Jimins vocal range is insane, and he's really showing off in this song. we're used to him doing a lot of higher pitched singing and softer singing but he's a menace. I'm excited and terrified for this album omg
If you guys didn’t know before, Jimin used to be a very different person. In BTS’ early debut day he was battling a lot… identity crisis, insecurity, eating disorder, etc… he really wanted to portray a false image of himself and it took a toll on him. Many idols are encouraged to do this in their careers.
So he didn’t really start to become the person he is today until just a couple years ago. Now he shines so much, he radiates so much confidence and inspiration that you wouldn’t be able to tell that he was ever hurting. SET ME FREE PT.2 is believed to be a kind of conclusion, like acknowledging your past and letting go in order to become the best version of yourself. All the songs on his new album FACE will have diverse sounds and feature his raw thoughts. Jimin wants to show a piece of himself and let everyone know that he’s a human with struggles, not just a product of the industry.

Did anyone else get a black swan continuation vibe? Black Swan was about being chased by your shadow self and trying to overcome to work together with all parts of you. Especially when you watch the version performed by the dance company. In Black Swan though, Jimin went from the white swan to the black one, almost as if he was overcome by his shadow self and hadn't learned yet to merge the two. In this one, it seemed like he learned to break free of his shadow self and the expectations of others (the rigid uniformity of the dancers he walked through in the very beginning) to return to find his true self aka the white swan.
