Many people who turn out to be gay were homophobic when they were younger, especially in a situation where they were taught to hate gay people. Edit: double checked with youtube vids and its the run from marble gallery back to the entrance, when you make your way back the first time, you get a shield potion and can jump down to get a hp up. If you ignore what he says nd turn it up you can hear the door open, a button get pushed then a item be picked up in quick succession. The castle entrance is only place that happens. You can also hear the marble gallery music in the background until the door opening.
