Hi George, very informative. I have just changed a diverter valve - brand new. When hot water is on, the CH Flow pipe get red hot at the same time- letting by. Also when heating comes on- it ramps up temp really quickly and shuts off within a few wins I ran the p0 purge sequence- thinking it was air trapped in main heat exchanger without luck. Canoe filter is clear, expansion vessel charged up, boiler has inhibitor, plate exchanger seem clean when I inspected. What could it Be? I suspect the motor on diverter is not fully sealing?
Thanks for asking and comment, Not understanding you changed the diverter but NOT the motor? DON'T get a recon buy NEW. It comes as a unit. Well done with the canoe you have a lot to talent and guts, not many would know about that the but it's only on the HW side, wouldn't solve your problem. Vaillant have a program "P1" etc. to remove air use it, I am the only person who used it. Check pump is 220Ω and flush main EXCH then 2 bottles of F2 should do. good luck 👍😀
Hi George another great video and very pleased with the apps!! Would a flow turbine / sensor give a fault like no hot water but heating still works ? what do you need to look for to differentiate between the diverter vale fault and a flow sensor ? Might seem a silly question but still learning myself really.
Hi Andy, thanks for asking, easy, if the DV is stuck we don't get the demand we want, if the sensor is faulty we don'ts get change in ohms Hz or volts from 0 to what ever it should be @ 10ltrs M. That is a £20 question Ha Ha. take care, george 😍
Great vid, I have been wiring my own heating controls for the last few years and am allot more confident with my fault finding thanks to this man. Well done George 👍👏👏
Hi Adam, thanks for the question, yes they do make a noise when the gears are moving, this can happen after 5 years that's why we recommend replace all valves then. That stops expensive breakdowns and slows to upgrade the system. regards, george
Thanks for the question, To replace the whole valve would be about £300.00 including flush and F2 inhibiter. To find someone, go to the boiler web site to find a local hero you can trust.Take care george staszak
Will do - kit works fro both brass and plastic. Must admit have changed 100s of these and never seen the actual valve body split its always been the internal cartridge leaking. Cheers.
You are very lucky, plastic and combies don't mix. Remember the VCW 242 had a black chocolate heat exchanger, was it a good idea? No all split went to S Steel very quickly. george

Hi Sam, I do try and make a difficult job a bit easier to understand, take care, george
Does the diverter valve make a high pitch squealing under hot water demand before it fails?

How much will a plumber charge to replace/fix this diverter, I don’t want to be scammed. Thanks
