Ive lived alone for 2 years now and its a real love/hate thing. I love the fact that the whole flat is mine and i can keep it as tidy or messy as i like, i can make noise whenever I want, and watch whatever I want... however it is very lonely, and I do find it hard to make plans with people as all my friends are coupled up and reluctant to sacrifice time with their loved ones to spend time with me... god that sounds awful, but its true! I end up going out places alone a lot, just to get out the house. Sometimes i think it would be nice to have house mates.

Thats so true.ppl when they have someone tend to spend less time with friends.thats not necessarilly bad but its hard when you are or become single.

Lizzy! I have a tip for the vase! When I have flowers with short stems I use the plastic wrap that the flowers came in, scrunch it up and stuff it down into the vase. It raises the water level (so you don't have to use as much) and keeps the stems raised up. A florist friend told me this and I was so grateful for it!

Kudos Lizzy! Every girl should have the experience of living on her own (with or without roommates). It'll help build confidence and make you a well rounded woman. Going from living with your parents to living with a spouse will make you feel like you missed out on being an independent and strong person.

I lived alone for 2 years, and it was the time of my life that I constantly want to go back to. Even though it was lonely, boring and sometimes unhappy, I learned so much more about being comfortable with myself and being a truly independent woman (thanks to all the heavy costco groceries I needed to carry home). Because of those 2 years, I will never feel bored by oneself, never feel uncomfortable eating alone, or never longing for unnecessary companies. I know now that I am the best company I have for myself, and I have so much more to offer to myself. Thank you Lizzy for sharing! you are the best!

Your content is so good! Your last lookbook was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and this video is so down to earth. I think a lot of people strugle with living alone because they assume that that is not normal to have low days or feel lonely. It's super normal and your advice was on point. It was very kind of you to share your experience for anyone needing it! And yeah you should be super proud of yourself Lizzy 🙌

so validating - thank you! I live alone and have for a long time, and as an extravert (which it sounds like you are too) it can be challenging to get the amount of social interaction I need to not just feel miserable and lonely, as you note. but regular classes and appointments and all definitely help.

Thank you so much for making this video, Lizzy! This is my very first comment on UA-cam as I've been always hesitated to do that, meaning this video is just too incredible so I couldn't stop myself jumping into writing this comment right away. It has been so hard to get through things in my whole twenties, and it seems not to be ending yet although I experienced some huge changes in the end of my twenties and my first year in thirties. For the last few days, I felt so down and even angry at myself not being able to be tough enough and didn't know how to deal with this annoying emotions. Your video has just helped me to come out of the rut and feel a possibility to take an initiative in my own life. Sorry for this lengthy message, I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will always look forward to watching/reading your contents on UA-cam and your blog :). Huge thanks and very best wishes, Natsumi

I've been a bit behind on my youtube subs and only just watched this video now. I don't know if you will see this, but I wanted to tell you how much I genuinely loved and admired this video. I've been out of uni for almost 2 years now, and am still living at home. I decided last year I wanted to step back from my job and try to really make a go of being freelance and while I'm unsure of much money I've got coming in I wanted to stay financially stable in some way, and living at home was the way to do that. My end goal is to move out and live on my own somewhere and a lot of the questions you got are genuine fears that I had about it. Especially since, like you, I had a really rough time from November through January and am only just coming out of it. A lot of life changes and severe anxiety kind of fucked me up a bit for a while, and everything you said about getting through your days and counting down the hours until you could reasonably go to bed, things like that I related to so much. While I'm on a bit of a self-realisation journey now, I had been hoping that eventually living on my own would help improve that even further and you've kind of given me the faith that it will and that living on my own won't actually be as scary as I thought it would be. This was a really inspiring one Lizzy and i'm really glad you did this video.

I have lived alone now for quite a while. My difference is I have a son, he is 6 now, but from the age of 2 he was in bed from 7.30pm, and am alone until I choose to go to bed. With a child, you cannot leave, its suffocating at times, knowing I cannot leave, I cannot do anything other than be here. But funnily enough I think it has grown me as a person. I know myself now, I know me better than I know anyone, and I know my likes and dislikes. All of the mess in my home is ours (mostly my sons - lego) But I think it is important for anyone to live alone, you learn so much about yourself, and you learn how to be alone and live with your own company. I have found it can also make you better in relationships too, because over time lonliness is almost impossible, so you know if you are choosing to be with someone it isn't because you are lonely - its because you genuinely like them! It is also very productive, and very motivating... its the reason why I am back at college and applying to uni alongside working, and it is the reason why my blog is doing so well at the moment. Living alone can be incredible, and I really do hope you make the most out of it! :)

Such an interesting Q&A Lizzy! I found it so inspiring and helpful. I myself have moved from my family in Denmark to London to study in fashion and pursue my dreams here. Sometimes it can be very helpful and interesting to listen to others experiences with moving to a new city, living alone etc. as it can be hard from time to time (though I love London SO MUCH). Thank you so much for this video! You're always super motivating

I absolutely loved this! I have been living alone for over a year now and although it was the hardest thing I have ever done, it has by far been the best and I feel as though I am becoming a much stronger woman because of it. Completely agree about forcing yourself to be social though, I can go an entire day (sometimes longer!) without speaking to another person and it is really something I am trying to work on xx

So what is you’re income a month, how much do you pay for you’re house, you’re grocery, clothing, insurance, on coffee, on eating out, water, electricity, gifts, can you safe etc etc. again it might be to personal, but for people who are thing about going to live on there own and just to have an idea what’s you’re life about on that part would be very interesting. Kind regards. Esmeralda

I moved to my boyfriend’s city to live with him, however he works opposite shifts so there are sometimes whole weeks when we wind up not crossing paths despite living together and of course I am away from my home/family. We recently have got a puppy as we both felt that we were alone a lot but wanted to commit to being together. I think for us it was the missing piece. She encourages us to go outside when otherwise we might sit stewing at home. It also means when we both come home there’s someone waiting and she gives us a reason to get up and do things as she still needs looking after no matter how we feel that day. I appreciate a puppy isn’t the answer for everyone but just think it’s interesting how different people get on with being ‘alone’ :) ps... I need the deets for this cosy cardi, it looks like perfect cosy Sunday material ☀️

It is very important to me to hear you speak so honestly and refreshingly about how you cope with being alone and experiencing low moods. I would certainly want and really appreciate you speak more on the subject. I find that you radiate confidence when it comes to dealing with your tough times, and because of that I feel like I can learn a lot from you on the subject. I'd also love it if you could share a bit more about whether you lean on your friends during those times, and how (and how much) they are there for you. I had a bad experience in uni where I leaned on a friend who I thought was my best friend at the time, and she totally rejected me and cut off our friendship (she said that I wasn't smiling enough) and since then I've always been awkward and hesitant about truly being open with my friends and leaning on them when I feel low as I fear the same rejection happening again and being devastated in the same way again.

Currently in a flatshare in London after living at home in Harrogate and I am having the same experience you're talking about. Great video! If you do decide to continue to live in London, what other area of London would you move to. Or will you continue to live in Notting Hill?

This was really informative Lizzie, thanks for sharing. Do you rent your flat or you bought it? I’m at a stage where I’m looking to buy my own flat but I’m partly considering staying living with parents and waiting to buy somewhere bigger with a future partner. But then I’m conscious of looking for a partner to fulfil this but I don’t want to force something that isn’t natural. Argh life decisions are tricky!

dldl You should go ahead and buy something on your own if you have the means! It's a great investment and you can sell it when u find that special someone.

MesRevesEnRose yes, put in simple terms that makes sense. But solicitor fees alone are in the thousands so I’m aware that patience may be the key. It’s difficult.

Absolutely brilliant video! I feel the way that you and Lindsey are both tackling these often taboo subject s is really refreshing, as much as I love your style videos its great that you use your platform in this way too because, as im sure we all know, social media can often be isolating when you feel down so thank you :.) Also one thing I always think when feeling down is this feeling will pass as know feeling ever lasts so hope that may also help. X

The taboo was in reference to loneliness of living alone and how it isn't very often that this is spoken about.

This video is very mind boggling. I started to realize that I liked you so much more before her breakup and whilst you were living in manchester. Your personality comes across different in that I feel you exaggerate more or are more sarcastic (actually a little excessive) and are quite clingy. Of course your vlogs are just a slight part of your life that im watching but you saying how its a HUGE financial step....and still making extreme purchases like designer chairs....its just not logical and an exaggeration or misperception of how you are currently.
This video just taught me that there are SO MANY people afraid of living/being alone. I have always thought that people should love themselves and enjoy their own company and not rely on others for that company. I distance myself from friends who cannot live without having a boyfriend at all times or are so busy they cant concentrate on the present and are texting somebody else to meet up while meeting up with someone. But watching lizzy becoming so different after such a breakup, im coming to realize that some people are more concentrated when they have people to rely onto and cling on
