I understand holding the defendant accountable for crashing the vehicle, but what kind of "friend" sues for MORE money than they paid for the car? That move was just trifling. Shame on the plaintiff for doing that.
Friends are good and dandy, but if my friend totaled my car, I want my money and if they don't pay, we would go to court. I wouldn't do it out of hatred,I just need my money, after I get it, we can go back to being the best of friends. Anybody should understand that.
He stated in the beginning that he purchases, refurbishes and resells the vehicles. So he purchased the vehicle at the lower value with the intent of investing the work and parts necessary to resell it at the premium cost.
a car accident doesn’t just cost the car, there are a lot of other expenses. he shouldn’t have to pay anything for it because it wasn’t his fault. you’re insane if you’re upset by that than the fact that his friend for decades caused an accident in his new car by being negligent then expected to pay for none of it.
If the defendant was having problems with his eyes that needed surgery (eventually) then he should have known better than to drive. But with being a good friend, he was just helping his buddy. The Plaintiff, was being an @$$ about it, I'm sure they could have worked something out on it, like they've probably done in their 45yrs of friendship. It's just sad to lose a friend, a good friend.
He had cataracts removed that meant he had vision problems that his long time friend should have known about and should have never asked him to drive in the first place.
If I crashed my friends car it wouldn’t be a question that I’m going to pay for it. Probably make payments over a period of time because the accident was my fault and I’m responsible because I was driving. I would feel so terrible to do anything but that.
Yeah I see more people giving shit to the guy suing and while I agree he's suing for too much, what kind of friend leaves you out to dry like that? If my good friend got the their car wrecked and it has nothing to do with me I'd want to help them out if I could. Seems more like a friendship of convenience than of genuine bond.
Was just going to make this same comment. It is freaking terrifying that old people don't have to retake a driving test yearly or at least every few years.
Had the plaintiff sued for just the price of what he paid for the truck, maybe but since he tried to sue for more proves he was just looking for $$. Threw away a 50 years friendship over 3,500. If I was the defendant I would never speak to him again.
These poor ol, stubborn coots. I hope they'll be friends again before they get to the December of their lives Reminds me of my Pops. He goes to McDonald's every morning with his old buddies. Every day. Used to be Hardy's, but now it's McDonald's. A true friend is worth more than a broken down car, so I hope they settle it and get over themselves soon ❣️
People’s court taught me 2 lessons if you wanna keep your family members and friends don’t lend them anything no matter how much you might want to help . If you wanna see who your real family members are or friends or the quickest way to lose any of them lend them something.
I'd lend my sister money (and I have in the past) and she paid it back. Thing is, they have to be special to me. Lend them an amount you won't miss or reminisce about later. When they aren't paying back, before resentment starts knocking on the door, have a conversation and tell them you're dropping the debt. Don't allow them to give you promises because most likely, they will not be fulfilled. Just keeping the relationship clean.
Again! I've never been this type of friend!I don't judge, bail or ask questions!I'm the type of friend that just shows up with tequila, bleach & a shovel!😝🤪😝
I see these two individuals in a couple of years enjoying breakfast at senior discount day at the Waffle house or Ihop just laughing, having a good time and reminiscing about that one time when plaintiff was trying to pull a fast one on defendant by suing him to get his extra money for the month because his social security was not enough 😂, these two will always have love for each other ( I think ) 😂😂😂
Kids, if you work your whole life for zero retirement benefits and a Social Security Retirement check of $700/month, GET A BETTER JOB - QUICKLY! Pathetic!
I'm laughing at two things the most in this case... the wife thats embarrassed to be there and the carrot that's standing next to Harvey outside 😂😂😂😂💀💀💀
If you buy a car you usually have 30 days to inform your insurance. The car owner SHOULD have claimed it on his insurance and its covered at the same level as current insurance. You are defrauding your insurance bcuz he is hiring and paying drivers- as ge admitted a commercial enterprise! Thats insurance fraud! The glasses guy could countersue for his NOT having adequate coverage of him as an employee, report him to the IRS, and sue doe all his uncovered medical bills, pain snd suffering, etc. The car should be fully covered by the owner who hired him- but with a commercial policy. Sue his insurance company snd the car becomes the issue- vs the hired driver
People are pointing out that the plaintiff is wrong for suing him because they were friends for 55 years but are fine with the defendant being wrong and not paying for something they did wrong.
This comment section is disgusting. If you had an issue that impairs your ability to drive you shouldn't accept a proposal to drive someone's car. How old are they? Have some darn accountability. If I wreck my friends car while driving it I'm paying no questions, he would've have to sue me.
What would've been the right thing to do as a friend who crashed their friend's car is to at least offer to cover half of the damages. And as friend who asked his friend who has cataracts to drive his vehicle you should graciously accept and eat the other half. Consider it a stupid tax.
I had the same thing happen to me but I never asked that friend for a dime it’s not worth losing a long time friend that’s practically a family member....
I don't understand how people can throw away a friendship over something so petty as 'money'. The defendant even admits the accident was his fault, therefore how is he not responsible in making his 'friend' whole again. He could offer him another car, or payment or something, but to just refuse anything and lose a friendship, is so ridiculous...
I think life is too short to argue over something like that. I know plaintiff is on ss and they get beeps, but still, to lose your friend. Maybe there's something else lining in this. I think they'll make up. God bless them.
Damn 55 years I’d let it go tbh just ain’t worth it and you can tell the defendant didn’t mean and he was truly sorry but 55 years over like 3500 and the plaintiff still tryna be friendly when he see for more money to get more money outta him? Bruh I guess you really don’t know someone till you do
Ummmm he just said he’s retired and is only making $700 a month and needs a second job to survive. I’m sure he has a family why would a friendship be more important than needing to provide for yourself and family. 🤔
add to folder of case where it is here just because of the show and possible profit if the plaintiff won and the money is probably to help the defendant pay for his medical bills.
With a friend like the defendant who needs enemies. If he was a good friend he wouldn’t have had to be sued. He crashed his car. He should have automatically pulled his wallet out.
I give my friend my friendship so that means I can ruin his stuff for free? But he should have never been asked to drive in the first place and he should have never agreed to do so.
This ruling makes no sense to me. If a truck driver has an accident that is his fault, does he have to reimburse the trucking company for the damages to the truck? I think not.
If you watch some idiot driver video's you can see that many wrecks are caused because people don't know that if your turning left you only have the right of way with a green arrow with a green light you must yield. It happened to me I was going straight dude almost hit me than yelled out the window. "My light was green A hole"
People’s court taught me 2 lessons if you wanna keep your family members and friends don’t lend them anything no matter how much you might want to help . If you wanna see who your real family members are or friends or the quickest way to lose any of them lend them something.
So. True people never ask me for anything cause I don't play. I've seen so many of my friends do this. I always tell them don't do it. They always prove me right.
How on Earth are you going to ask the guy with cataracts to drive your car and follow you somewhere?
That’s what I was thinking. His surgery was three days ago but cataracts don’t appear overnight and his sight had to be affected.
@DetroitThotNews cataracts develop over time. He been blind for a while 😩
Wow did the Defendant have cataracts before the wreck? That was never mentioned.
@DetroitThotNews he meant he got cataract surgery. Which means he was driving with impaired vision
Exactly
I understand holding the defendant accountable for crashing the vehicle, but what kind of "friend" sues for MORE money than they paid for the car? That move was just trifling. Shame on the plaintiff for doing that.
Really makes perfect sense. "People's Court" pays the judgements, so why not max the amount?
Friends are good and dandy, but if my friend totaled my car, I want my money and if they don't pay, we would go to court. I wouldn't do it out of hatred,I just need my money, after I get it, we can go back to being the best of friends. Anybody should understand that.

I love the way the Defendant talks, his voice is so classic with that Southern swag!
Something about the defendants dark glasses make me think he wouldn’t be my choice to drive my vehicle 😂
He had surgery 2 days ago.
@@sarahwaters8262 oh
@@sarahwaters8262 But his eyesight may have began deteriorating years ago.
Yes that would have been a dead giveaway...lol
😂😂😂😂

Exactly because I had cataract surgery in left eye
Seeing old chill guy in shades,I knew it had to be a classic.. liked before even watching 😁
Word!! He looked like a whole lot of fun lol 😂
Same here!
Me ttooo!
If I crashed my friends car it wouldn’t be a question that I’m going to pay for it. Probably make payments over a period of time because the accident was my fault and I’m responsible because I was driving. I would feel so terrible to do anything but that.

They need to regularly retest drivers after 65 years of age… some older folks shouldn’t be behind the wheel of a car.
Some people period.
I agree, should have to retest after 50 if ya ask me.
I think people need to be retested every 7 years
Was just going to make this same comment. It is freaking terrifying that old people don't have to retake a driving test yearly or at least every few years.
Looks to me like the defendant lost a good friend.
Had the plaintiff sued for just the price of what he paid for the truck, maybe but since he tried to sue for more proves he was just looking for $$. Threw away a 50 years friendship over 3,500. If I was the defendant I would never speak to him again.
If he don’t put them glasses back on. He’s nearly blind and driving 😩 are we surprised he had an accident
These poor ol, stubborn coots.
I hope they'll be friends again before they get to the December of their lives

Tell it!!
$700 isn't enough to retire but I also buy outside food daily🙄
And buys a new car
How much is coffee and breakfast at the Waffle House.
You don’t have to be rich
What a sad situation 😢
Don't let people drive anything that is not in their name! Period
Again! I've never been this type of friend!I don't judge, bail or ask questions!I'm the type of friend that just shows up with tequila, bleach & a shovel!😝🤪😝
In that order!
Tequila? Whiskey is by far better!!
The ROMEO Club....Random Old Men Eating Out.
How you gonna eat out every day and complain about 700 a month budget lol
I see these two individuals in a couple of years enjoying breakfast at senior discount day at the Waffle house or Ihop just laughing, having a good time and reminiscing about that one time when plaintiff was trying to pull a fast one on defendant by suing him to get his extra money for the month because his social security was not enough 😂, these two will always have love for each other ( I think ) 😂😂😂
Kids, if you work your whole life for zero retirement benefits and a Social Security Retirement check of $700/month, GET A BETTER JOB - QUICKLY! Pathetic!
Only in the US. People living on social security presented with a 38,000 medical bill. Smh
I'm laughing at two things the most in this case... the wife thats embarrassed to be there and the carrot that's standing next to Harvey outside 😂😂😂😂💀💀💀
the whole world is embarrased for the US by another fool who looks like a carrot....
55 years of friendship just to end in this manner. More than half a century over some bullshit.
Men need to make better decisions. Men are always screwing friends over for some dumb situations. Pride is a huge problem Men have. Shameful
Don’t know what law she’s referring to.. The Defendant had no personal or commercial stake, favours are granted in good faith..
The plaintiff trying to take him to the cleaners!
I like the defendant he’s too cool 😎 for school 🏫 you can tell back in his day he was a lady killer.
If you buy a car you usually have 30 days to inform your insurance. The car owner SHOULD have claimed it on his insurance and its covered at the same level as current insurance. Exactly
These kinds of people don't have friends. They have extended acquaintances.
Sir pay the man 😂
person to person means more than friend to friend
They seem like cool old dudes! I’ll take the McDonald’s date 🤣
The plaintiff is better off without such a horrible person as a so called "friend"!:The defendant is a horrible person!!
Who Sue’s their friend of 40-50 years??? Sick!
I like both these guys. I wish this hadn’t of happened to them. This made my eyes tear up.
This comment section is disgusting. If you had an issue that impairs your ability to drive you shouldn't accept a proposal to drive someone's car. How old are they? Have some darn accountability. If I wreck my friends car while driving it I'm paying no questions, he would've have to sue me.
My father was on this show once he passed away 10 years ago I keep looking for his case here on UA-cam every new upload I am hoping to see him.
Aaw ❤ I hope it’s uploaded one day.
Can’t you Google the show with your father’s name? I was able to find my friend, on this show, by doing that.
Money was more important than the friendship, obviously! Super sad! The defendant was a good guy!
If he'd not caused the accident I'd feel differently. But he'd caused the accident period!!🤦♀️👍🤩😃
da peeps court: Plaintiff and defendant gets air fares to and fro and any judgment da peeps court pays. It's just fun theater. Relax peeps.

First off why would he have his friend with vision problems drive?! What did he expect.
How is it that the defendant is always offended for being sued because they didn’t show their friend or family Grace.
I had the same thing happen to me but I never asked that friend for a dime it’s not worth losing a long time friend that’s practically a family member....

Greasy scammer all his life. What a creep.
Old time used car hustling curbstoners.. unlicensed dealers.
BOTH ARE WRONG!
Defendant doesn't need friends like the plaintiff.
I think life is too short to argue over something like that. I know plaintiff is on ss and they get beeps, but still, to lose your friend. Maybe there's something else lining in this. I think they'll make up. God bless them.
These are good people
Had the plaintiff asked the defendant to drive a Lincoln instead of a Cataract, the accident could have been avoided 😂😂😂😂
LOL!
Damn 55 years I’d let it go tbh just ain’t worth it and you can tell the defendant didn’t mean and he was truly sorry but 55 years over like 3500 and the plaintiff still tryna be friendly when he see for more money to get more money outta him? Bruh I guess you really don’t know someone till you do
I guess the defendant just didn't see how good he had it.....
Someone is doing you favours for over 5 years and you end up suing him for $3500🤷♂️
i wouldnt let that guy water my plants
$3,500 is more important than 55 years. Sad.
Ummmm he just said he’s retired and is only making $700 a month and needs a second job to survive. I’m sure he has a family why would a friendship be more important than needing to provide for yourself and family. 🤔
Don’t matter Friend or no friend if u mess up there car u have to pay for it . I’m not about to come out my own pocket and pay for it
add to folder of case where it is here just because of the show and possible profit if the plaintiff won and the money is probably to help the defendant pay for his medical bills.

With a friend like the defendant who needs enemies. If he was a good friend he wouldn’t have had to be sued. He crashed his car. He should have automatically pulled his wallet out.
Don’t blame the plaintiff.. his old and retired and he lives on $700 a month.. he needs the money 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
I give my friend my friendship so that means I can ruin his stuff for free? But he should have never been asked to drive in the first place and he should have never agreed to do so.
Not fair. He should only have to pay half
$700 a month SS he must have worked minimum wage his whole life that's pitiful.
This ruling makes no sense to me. If a truck driver has an accident that is his fault, does he have to reimburse the trucking company for the damages to the truck? I think not.
Apples and oranges
This one was interesting

american health care, wonderful
glad i live in australia
how do you live to the defendants age and not know if an accident is your fault you have to pay to make it right
Moral of the story don’t do favors for anyone
Oop, not be knowing exactly where and when this accident happen
So sad😔😔😔
The defendant is obviously in the wrong and if either of them was a bad friend it was the defendant.
Its cold outside..
Put the glasses back on.... PLEASE
Just greedy

People’s court taught me 2 lessons if you wanna keep your family members and friends don’t lend them anything no matter how much you might want to help . If you wanna see who your real family members are or friends or the quickest way to lose any of them lend them something.
Exactly. All my friends know never to ask me for a loan of money or my vehicles. That is why I have kept friends for decades.
So. True people never ask me for anything cause I don't play. I've seen so many of my friends do this. I always tell them don't do it. They always prove me right.
