    To be fair, to pull any enchanted out of so few packs is crazy. The hit rate is rock bottom, i've opened 55 booster displays in total and got 1 enchanted out of it

    • @MacsIlluminary
      @MacsIlluminary  Місяць тому

      55 packs isn't bad honestly. Most people will claim the pull rate is 1:96 because there is supposed to be one Enchanted card per case (a case is 4 booster boxes, so 1 in every 96 packs). It took me probably 250 packs to pull an Enchanted in First Chapter and took me 411 packs (i made a series on it which is why it's such a specific number lol) to pull an Enchanted in Ursula's Return.
      Personally, I feel if they are going to have so many Enchanteds per set, considering there are more Enchanteds per set than Legendaries, they should be a little easier to pull.

    I’ve always had good pulls from troves. Enchanted Diablo from Ursula’s return and enchanted Clarabelle from Shimmering. But at least 2-3 legendaries from each one

      That's awesome! I believe this is the first Enchanted I've pulled from a trove. Usually I find them in a booster box and maybe...twice in sleeved packs.

    nice enchanted! i got a Robin Hood Sharpshooter from the bonus pack in my SS starter deck. You should get the cards graded for content! why would you choose becket instead of psa?

    • @MacsIlluminary
      @MacsIlluminary  Місяць тому +1

      I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to grading cards. From what I understand, though, is that PSA is typically best because it's the "standard." A PSA 10 tends to hold more value than any other grading company's 10 grade. However, Beckett grades are a bit different. Instead of just an overall 10 score, the label shows the scoring for individual criteria: centering, edges, surface, corners. The overall score is then determined based on the average of these numbers. Beckett offers something knows as the "black label" which you can ONLY get if every one of those scores is 10. If you manage to get a black label, the value of the card goes way up...but that's a difficult thing to achieve.

      @@MacsIlluminary I've opened around 4 troves, got a few clarabelles. My best luck so far is a revive enchanted from a sleeved booster. I guess I need to invest in into the inklands. (just started a month or two ago) trying to build the amber/steel song deck .

      Welcome to the hobby/game!
      Clarabelle is a great card to pull multiple of sitting at around 30 bucks currently in standard form. Unless you're wanting to collect full master or play sets, I would absolute recommend just buying singles from TCGplayer. You could easily spend a fortune trying to stumble across the chase cards you need.

    • @MacsIlluminary
      @MacsIlluminary  Місяць тому +1

      Me too! I wish they would differentiate all the set color schemes a bit more because it just feels like 4 sets of dark blues/purple.

    The Players Guide was only in the first two sets - that is what they cut to add the dice.

    • @MacsIlluminary
      @MacsIlluminary  2 місяці тому

      I prefer the dice, so I approve the substitution. A checklist is really nice to have though if you're collecting, but I'm at a point where I just create my own.

    First chapter troves are only expensive because it is scarce, the cards themselves are not, definitely over priced.

    Don’t forget the troves, I believe, had the erratas cards and you def pulled the befuddled

    • @MacsIlluminary
      @MacsIlluminary  2 місяці тому +1

      You are 100% correct. As far as I know, the First Chapter Troves were never printed so everything in there would've been pre-errata. I'll have to make sure they get added to my errata binder!

    Why are the 1st chapter Troves more expensive than the booster boxes?

    • @MacsIlluminary
      @MacsIlluminary  Місяць тому +1

      I believe it's because the Troves are more "rare." First Chapter Troves were never reprinted so what's out there is all there is (currently). First Chapter Booster boxes, on the other hand, have had several reprints since their launch.

  • @comoplaysdestiny5106

    I wouldn’t grade anything unless you have many many cards. Otherwise the cost of grading and shipping will usually make it not worth it. Also it seems like opening 300 dollar first chapter troves is not worth it 😅 not many packs at all. I guess all the value is in the scarcity

    • @MacsIlluminary
      @MacsIlluminary  2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, definitely scarcity since they never reprinted the troves (as far as I know), so everything in it is truly first print. At this point, I'd recommend it only as a sealed collector item.
      And thank you for the info on grading! I might send off a few some day just to see how it goes and get comfortable with the process, but I don't know that it makes sense to do for standard cards. It feels like it really should be an expensive foil or enchanted, but I'd be too scared to let my enchanteds leave my possession lol.

    • @comoplaysdestiny5106
      @comoplaysdestiny5106 2 місяці тому

      @@MacsIlluminary yeah, so one of the cheapest grading fees you’ll find is 20 dollars per card, so unless you don’t care about making a profit it would be best to submit enchanteds that you believe could get a 9 or 10

    • @Spazza42
      @Spazza42 Місяць тому

      @@MacsIlluminaryThat entirely depends on when you join the bandwagon as a collector. I was so late to the game for some franchises that my only option was to fork out for sealed stock to experience opening them for the first time. If you missed the boat then tough luck otherwise.
      I’m happy paying more than others in that case but it’s one of my few pleasures as an adult so it’s pretty subjective. Grading depends on location, I wouldn’t be able to grade a lot of cards at once because of the outright cost involved. Some companies charge £20 a card in the UK as a base, 10 cards is £200 which isn’t chump change.

    • @MacsIlluminary
      @MacsIlluminary  Місяць тому

      Thank you for sharing that. In the US, companies tend to offer discounts if you grade a bunch of cards at once. That said, I've also heard that some of the grading companies aren't even worth using because a grade 10 from them isn't anything near a grade 10 from PSA. I'm really interested in it, but I'm also scared of it lol. What if I send my enchanteds and they just disappear in the mail? Or what if I send my $400 enchanted and its gets a poor grade and drops to like a $200 enchanted?
