I enjoyed this film - (I was only 2 years old when this game was played - but I remember reading about Utah's star - freshman Arnie Ferrin - I recall that he was blonde - so I think he is easy to spot in the film.)
8 teams. Entire tourney took 5 days
born and raised OGDEN UTAH OGDEN HIGH WEBER STATE 2 time champion then to THIS TEAM FIRST PERSON OF COLOR INT HE N.B.A. Wataru Misaka ;; WEBER STATE DOSE NOT EVEN KNOW WHO HE IS, kevin D. blanch Ph.D.
it was the 40s!
Goal must have been higher then....only a few players able to jump and reach the net....
crazy to think while this game was going on hitler was alive and the world was at war..
Wat Misaka would have been forced to relocate to the Topaz Internment Camp if not for being enrolled at the University of Utah. Instead he lead the team to a championship. There's stories of him visiting friends and family at the camp.
I could have made the NBA
this is embarrassing
Actually this is not too much embarrassing because of basketball was a new born sport in 1940s and the ball which they played was much heavier than today's ball!
@@LebAu06 really??? It was sort of a joke, my remark. I do appreciate the history of it. But weve come a long way! LOL
@@hotchickenbone There were a ton a great players in the mid to late 40's actually...maybe not in this game lol.. but guys like Bob Davies, Jim Pollard, Dick Dickey, George Mikan, Joe Fulks, etc... they were pretty darn good.
dartmouths team had a few ringers who were serviceman back from the war or training for for their redeployment, Whereas Utah had a Japanese American.
