wide shallow river. look at those huge floaters in the middle. go behind and around them. those are the low pressure zones. those large cobble you were standing on and the cobble at the lower waterfall are probably the best places to look in that area
Beautiful spot, I go to Mary Ellen's quite a bit. Usually solo because nobody likes to put in the work! If you ever wanna head up let me know, I've got an Xterra that'll make it all the way up and I know of a few good spots up that way.
+Bobby Perkins i am planing to take the gold sucker and the gold cube up there in a few months, im new to this area and always looking for a "guide". if you want do make a day thing of it let me know.
brand new to gold panning in Utah... tried in big cottonwood for ha has today with no luck. have you tried the cottonwood canyons and have found anything or should i go to af canyon?
I've never been up there but I have heard of others finding it there. I also heard rumors of them enforcing the water way up there which means panning up there could get you in trouble.Might want to look into it or just go to AF canyon.

DUDE NO OFFENCE ...BUT GET SOME EDUCATION about panning , what to look for when sampling . and specific gravity when classifying and sampling plus don't dig in mud and look for hard pan
+troy davis Thanks for the comment, are you familiar with the area? I think you might be confused a bit on what actually comes out of this area and how clay can work against you non the less check out pt 2 before you pass too much judgement
