I wasn't into dressing nice before. I was always shabby in my attire until I learned it's part of giving the public a better perception of ourselves if we are to thrive among people.
yep when i dress ugly and i KNOW i don't look hood, i'm in a bad mood/uncomfortable. when i know i look good, i feel a lot better about everything i do, and i socialize wayyyy more. crazy
I've been looking for sociological and psychology research on fashion's purpose, thanks for this video it's very interesting to see how humans are influenced unknowingly.
Now do the same test with the person's regular jacket. e.g. the jacket I bought for $5 at a Goodwill store. You will get the same result. It's called being warm and comfortable. Helps attention. As opposed to cold and uncomfortable, which is distracting.
Its essential knowledge that our clothes affect our mood, mindset, and way we behave like you all mentioned. On my channel i discuss how fashion and the way we communicate are interinked and the point is proven there as well. The symbloic association with certain garments most definitely have an affect on the people wearing them and the people percieving them. By wearing these clothes that contain subconscious messages, their qualities become integreted with who we are.
I'm not sure if the people wearing the coat as "the second ones" didn't just focused closely for the second time, wanting be more precise, knowing "they could be better". I'm not sure how sort of evidence/proof this experiment gives: although it's interesting idea, I just don't believe that much in something like >social statistic generalisation< which it is. It considers too little factors to be true for me.
this experiment was terribly conducted, but the point wasn't accuracy since it was already performed using proper statistical procedures. They just wanted to reproduce the experiment so they could show us. The science supports it though
Clothes influence our behaviour and attitude like crazy! Just compare yourself when you wear a neat, gorgeous suit versus when you wear an old jumper! Oh my days…

So interesting! I wonder how it applies to theatre and acting when someone has to wear a costume for their performance.
