    The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says Dequan Roquemore died from multiple blunt force injuries. He also tested positive for methamphetamine at the time of the incident. According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the chase on April 20, began as a drug complaint investigation near 40th and Auer after officers observed a vehicle they believed to be involved in drug dealing. Three years earlier, when Dequan Roquemore was 24, he was detained after Racine County sheriff’s deputies clocked his vehicle driving 96 mph. During the stop, deputies reportedly discovered more than a pound of marijuana and more than $5,000 in the vehicle, according to the criminal complaint. He was a convicted felon possessing a firearm and was a known drug dealer at that time.

New thing in Milwaukee w these damn kids, dippin and tippin- stealing KIA’s and Hyundai’s and going high speed to try and flip the car over and then run from the scene. Shit happens multiple times a day. I don’t know how many survive to get out and run but it’s usually 15yr olds to 20yr olds in this “fad”.

      @@colorsabsract7107 fair enough, but there’s a reason that many department don’t allow chases. Sure they make awesome entertainment, but 99.99% of criminals don’t flee the country after running from a cop, so just give them a long leash and wait for another opportunity to sneak up on him when he’s not suspecting it. Or invent something that literally grapples to the car (like a harpoon that impales itself into the metal, maybe the tip also releases tear gas into the body of the car) and then just use the weight of your cop car to slowly make him stop. If they make that I’ll quit my job today and become highway patrol.

Although it may have been helpful to put a neck brace or collar on her before having her get out of her vehicle. I've never seen an officer carrying/using a collar on a victim, so I don't know if that is something that any of them carry in their first aid supplies. What a scary situation to be in. To those of you saying they should've terminated: If law enforcement simply lets people get away just because they don't stop then what is even the point of having laws? There are a multitude of tactics that could be employed to stop a pursuit before something like this happens without the need of terminating. The vast majority of modern law enforcement agencies are far too gutless or afraid of liability to employ these tactics (PIT, roadblocks, spike strips, box in, ramming, grappler, etc). The popular thing anymore is to pretend like you're on the moral high ground and say it should've been terminated for the greater good, but you're just dead wrong and really quite naive.

    • @swood943
      @swood943 3 роки тому +4

      @@SWEETG83 That could work as long as the drone has the ability to keep up with a speeding vehicle. The problem with following a suspect vehicle with a helicopter, drone, or something like star chase is that unless you have a police vehicle trailing it the offender has a much higher chance of escaping, and if that happens then what is the point of doing all of that in the first place? Not to mention it seems that a large majority of the time, even after law enforcement has terminated, the pursued vehicle continues driving dangerously. Just now there’s no lights and sirens to warn people. But at that point the department has no liability for lawsuits.

      I agree, this was a very dangerous chase and, in the grand scheme of things, it really wasn't worth it for reckless driving after a drug complaint call. Problem is, if a department makes a policy of calling off dangerous chases, the criminals will know that and it will increase the % of suspects that will end up running in a vehicle.
      If they know a dangerous chase will get called off, some perps will try to create a situation that will get the police to call off the chase.
      If you think about it on a large scale, things like pursuit policy gets very complex. In this case, calling it off would have been a good decision but, on a large scale, is that a policy that would result in fewer injuries/deaths? And then they can tell the police in the cruisers to...I guess pretend to call the pursuit off. Because the suspect would think that they escaped but the police drone would be following it from the air. When the suspect gets to their destination, the person/officer controlling the drone can alert other officers where the suspect is at. And hopefully they can catch the suspect off guard when, not in a vehicle. If that makes sense. I tried my best to explain it in my opinion. Lol
