- Russian Tanks of World War 1 - WW1 Tank - Great War Tanks
During World War 1 the Tsar Russian military attempted design it's own brand of experimental tank and tank prototypes , even during the early part of the Russian Civil War in 1917 - 1918.

You can see that the Russians got there tank designs by looking at things around them such as bricks, eggs, tricycles, and trains
hatboxful The battleship earth tank project does look like a trainstation with guns. damn russia, u silly.
TheSpanishInquisition Cool name though.
TheSpanishInquisition Cool name though.
+hatboxful But the funny thing is that even on those things you can see them investin more man power into making them sloped, round. Even back then they knew that something round is better than a box.But would have loved to see that tricicle in action. Don't know about the ww1 tank how much scare it came with but that thing considering its size I think it would have made everyone shit themselves.
+Grim Reaper 2:46 that doesn't look round at all. the roundness is probably to make it look good. people made it boxy until ww2 because it was cheaper, it was already known sloping was better because of ship design for 50+ years before ww1.
That rolling egg can travel as fast as 310 mph ? wow it was the scariest thing you will ever encounter on the battlefield.
that was just the projected speed , not the real speed since it was never built
some idiot engineer didn't understand math.
Main armament - it's own weight
O boi
it would be launched at that speed, but would slow down gradually
German private : GIANT FLYING EGG!
German officer : I’m sorry w-
BOOM
Rolling into battle in a giant armored egg? The intention being to just crush every thing. Ingenious. The defence? Fill a shell hole with boiling water and when it falls in wait 2 minutes and give the troops spoons and toast!
Owen St.Hilaire lmao it worked in the movie Battleship
2:26 That ain't a tank, that's a building!
big boi
Russians tank designers : I GOT AN IDEA!
*draws metal moving box with a gun*
PERFECT!
So, basically,a ww1 tank
The British: let's design a useful tank that is able to cross and break trenches which is a big tactical advantage to us
The Russians: Let's build a big can and stick some guns on it
Italians in WW2 let's build something that world will remember us. And then they made most crappy tanks. Who cares it is easy and you become famous
To be honest, though, if you were an infantryman and saw a Tsar tank coming, you'd probably piss yourself.
Until you realize they forgot to armor the wheels. *facepalm*
Ikr
they could still shoot u down
And you think that when you see a tsar tank you think that a giant artillery is coming
Noot reaally i would rather laugh at how stupid it is because you can just hit the tracks
Blah b Stfu you nazi!! The Size of those wheels are so big, that blowing hole in it would not even stop it! it would still turn
I wonder who thought that a tricycle design would work lol
+NapoleonBonaparde They did know about tracked vehicles but they were looking for a way of getting large weapons over wide trenches. Most decent tracked vehicles at the time were too short to be able to cross trenches until the British 'lozenge' shaped tanks came along. It's still a crazy looking machine though!
+NapoleonBonaparte that thing could run over pretty large trees and traverse really rocky terrain, it failed because it couldn't get through mud
+Zindai x A pretty big design flaw considering mud was pretty much all that could be guaranteed to be encountered in a WW1 battlefield! lol
In fact the Tsar tank could pass on the mud, but its small wheel could not get through in large trenches.
Matheus Botelho Yeah, the second most likely thing it would encounter on the battlefields of world war one after mud. lol
It would have been amazing to see it in motion though. Shame there isn't any moving footage of it.
I wanna see this in bf1 dlc lol
Bf1 was garbage EA made multiplayer cost money just to play it
@@SlavicUnionGaming you are a poor slav that can't enjoy anything in life stfu you pathetic worm
Oh well Russia, you tried.
hahahahahahaha omfg I'm laughing so hard right now
imagine if they tried to ram mark 2
Russia = slow clunky large and terrifying
t-34 wasn't slow at all
Yep. But the (questionable) tanks of Russia during WW1 were fails.
Let's play "spot the next Battlefield 1 DLC tank".
The Fortress Tank could be a map in and of itself for the Russia DLC.
The egg.
The tsar tank
Yea I want this in battlefield 1 it is a joke then like the kolibri pistol
"Tsar Wars"! :D
Ssar wars even better comrade😄
Star Wars we’re even better than that as well comrade
Nice video. My only suggestion would be to use some Russian composer's work instead of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.
I want this huge trycicle tank to be in a steampunk game...
Check out the movie Mutant Chronicles.
Actually you can find Tsar Tank inside: Toy Soldiers (game). It is pretty fun game available from Steam :)
1:21 these people were so lucky. I wish to see one of those myself. Such a shame they were destroyed. :(
Funny, the proposed ones seem more practical than the ones they built.
Like the egg? L
@@finnishguy4002 he probably means the bricks
Edit: added an s
Even before the SU-100Y the russian engineers liked to wrap big 120mm naval guns in metal wrapping paper and send to the front lines. "From Russia with love"
Mendeleev although mainly a scare tactic (as most tanks were in ww1) could fire a 17 pound shell at unknown speeds the tank it self only going about 2-3 mph and never left the test field
On paper the giant tricycle tank was good, engineers around the world had realised the "big wheel" theory was a good way, on paper, of crossing very wide trenches and crushing forests of barbed wire, the prime requirement for WW1 tanks. However most people realised such a tall, huge, vehicle would be easy meat for enemy guns, never mind getting it onto railway wagons to get to the Front, so waste of effort actually building it (just like Maus in WW2 was). The British had already invented the caterpillar tractor, and they then came up with the lozenge shape, to replicate the lower arc of a big-wheel, which is of course the only part actually needed to touch the ground = best WW1 tanks.
The Tsar tank would've been a terrifying sight to see in battle, I suspect. Even if it does have design flaws. Honestly, With most of these designs it seems like the wheels are just too exposed.
thank god none of these made it on to the battlefield,it would have been embarrassing even for those times!
mendeleev tank would be a biggest landgun with toughest armor that other landguns can't destroy at first shot.
4:26
Fastest object alive lol
Наконец то поняли, что первые в мире танки придумали русские!
Ты чё дурак? Первые танки придумали англичане, а затем французы
Dam that thing givs a hole new meaning to the boxthank
4:18 super amazing tank
I hope they add the tsar tank to the new bf1 dlc
2:18 I call this one "the twinke"!
it always amazing to see early stages of designs of some of the most popular machines and weapons, how many basically stupid ideas. My point is that they look like stupid ideas now but all these early ideas gave the start for the machines we enjoy now :-)
Someone should build another one of the tricycle tank
I wish
it would never work nor be effective in battle
robert k I know but I would still build it
robert k Maybe not but it sure as hell would have no trouble with the infamous Russian roads -- at least when they are dry and not strips of deep, thick, sticky mud.
I think he meant to build it again as a museum piece
The Tzar tank failed because Tzar Nicholas was a wanker!
Awesome love ur vids
BTW, those armored square box tanks, would be awesome shipping containers for transporting valuable cargo.. :)
At 1:06 is a Soviet era imagination. The original design for Vezekhod had no turret, only possible machine gun mount.
i realy like the tanks and you deserve 1000 likes
The Mendeleev Tank isn't a tank, it's a damn armoured train.
Land-ship actually or at the very least that's what they called and thought of super heavy tanks back then. Naturally as tanks were a novel and relatively new concept at the time it makes sense that designers would look to the turreted main guns on iron clad warships of that era for inspiration and practical design reference.
+Phenixtri Ever heard of a joke before?
to me that is the joke that people actually thought like that back then :P
+Phenixtri Yeah I know
1.33 lol these remind me more of some type of armaments used but the droids in clone wars I can t remember exactly the model but they surely look alike!!!
I don't get the death egg at 4:32
TheSuperDerpyGamer6 It was supposed to roll over field fortifications and smash them with its weight.
zelts k thanks
Damn we cant expect much from russian dlc
Mendeleev-Rybinsk: What the hell were they planning to go up against with that? Looks more like a mechanized artillery piece then a Tank.
Wow. MInd blower: considering all the material I have reviewed about WW1 & WW2. Direct hit jman!
At 0.50 into the video, love those superimposed heads on that dreadfully grainy picture, very low quality fakery. That tricycle, really!!!? The Mendeleev, 100mm to 150mm armour, that amount of armour would be inconceivable in that day and age, much less even considered. The tank at 4:15 is an armoured train, these actually existed. The rolling projectile isn't even a tank, it's little more than a cannonball. At least this gave me a few laughs, unlike many supposed secret weapon fakery movies.
mendeleev was professional submarine desiener and his hope was a big diesel engine.
he knew practical physics, first watch his big and detailed concept.
This would be a good tank for age.
I don´t get the last one (the walpepering one), is it suppoused to be a tank or a projectile?
0.33 Its so CUTE :D
I think that old Tsar tank still seating in Moscow forest
would be cool to take look :-)
it was scrapped in the 1920's
i think i saw fresh pics on net i have to double check
The tank in the thumb nail looks exactly like the tank I built from Lego set when I was 7.
The Tsar tank is in the first toy soldiers video game for the Xbox 360
Those are some derpy tanks.
How does a metal egg go 310 mph and what does it do? And bollox to being inside when it does go that fast doing whatever it does
***** it was suppose to roll at high speeds and flatten objects, t was just a concept designed , not feasible in anyway at the time
Soren G probably captured
no one said someone had to be inside
I've seen metal eggs go way faster than that.
the tricycle looked like it could have all MG's or a Rotating Cannon of maybe 8 max.
These all look like designs for Ork tanks that were rejected by Games Workshop for being too stupid or implausible...
They say that there was a truck with turets and ligth armor
too many for Battlefield 1
true
yevon sama and
Well at least they were the ones who introduced a new type of tank, Sloped bigger better, diesle engine bigger gun.
Again german enginuity didnt think of that.
Have you ever Seen a small tank called Hetzer?
Yes, thats german, last min ideas towards the end of the war,
1943?
yes what about it?
The Hetzer was built in july 1943. Nowhere near the end.
Reminds me theese angry chaos marines screaming shit about metal boxes XD
To be honest I'm quite sad that DICE didn't put some of them into the game .
The poor bastards that had to crew these things, dang.
The Egg reminds Me of DR EVIL "escape Egg" from Austin Powers Movie.
USA: what the fuck is this thing
Russia: I don't know
These look like something out of Flash Gordon.
What's the first one? Armored bobsled ?
no, it ran on a single tank tread + 2 side rear tires
Well they should put how many crews inside or required..
2020: It just a BOX with a LONG TUBE in the front
May I have the link to the Russian WWII tanks?
Wow, for making some of the first tanks ever, the Russians were pretty damn creative. Some of them I just didn't get though. What the hell was that ellipsoid thing? How was that supposed to work!?
It was meant to just roll over people ,thats it
olluman123 lol
It is a pity that many of the excellent designs never saw battle.
Indeed. Stronk tricycles
Even the Orks from Warhammer 40K will laugh upon seeing these tanks!
SOS DONT DO IT DOD, THAT SECUIRITY ADVISORY COSTS 22 MILLIONS DOLLARS TO BE PAID CONSULTANCY ACCOUNT IN THE EU IN GOLD
Imagine the tsar tank in wot
what does MONSCHEINSONATE have to do with TANKS ??
Whats thr song called?
I wouldn’t mind if the proposed tanks existed
hahahahha that giant tricycle is incredible.
cooles tank ever.
if win in lottery i will try to make a repro.
What Is the music? I heard it many Times
ITS A FUCKING BRICK xD for fack sake XD
fack? or fuck?
Pinça do Destino well at the time they did not for sure know things such as sloping..
had to get that extra .7 mph
The tsar tank looks so scary
3:55 made me laugh so hard! It looks like an Okomotive BTW
What were they thinking, when they designed those tanks!
Music?
Well dice you knew what to do
Russian are quite creative
Creative, maybe but these tanks were so unuseful comparing to british and french tanks..
Joni Leppäskä yeah like the mark IV
Joni Leppäskä frnech tanks were shit back then tsar tank.... FUCKING OP AS FUCK
Now these are what I an call armed box
there is so much hilariously wrong information in this video.
tsar tank had 7.62 mm machine guns, for starters, not 76.2 mm cannons. Pretty much any time this video references 76.2mm cannons/guns, it's just the video maker misreading the decimal place and not knowing any better.
the proposed one is a rv tank XF
XD
1:59 DISTURBING SH"T
I like the minecraft tank.
Just don't add music D:
Music name?
everyone: lets make a tank taht are the newwest thing and best lookin....
russians: how about box with guns?
where the tesla tank and apocalypse tank??
it dosent exist
All these tanks vs the Großkampfwagen
Why sad music?
Russian is impressing
4:44 why are those papers in german?
Freiheit im Internet they were captured documents or a German design forwarded to the Russians
Shame you don't narrate more on your vids
What song is this?
Totally fell in love with it
+Kätlin Kalve
Moonlight Sonata (by Beethoven)
+Kätlin Kalve i totally fell asleep to it :D
+tgredwolf I listen it before going to sleep :D
+Kätlin Kalve If you know a movie called K-19 thats when i first heard it... If you have not seen it im not gonna spoil. But its based on true events.
Those designs look all so goofy and ineffective
the eqq one was weird looking
Pretty interesting that Russians got all these radical ideas but they never make them what weird the most is the armored ball they were going make is stupid idea how that going to work
They would probably roll it down the hill, crushing enemy soldiers with it. I still don't see how that's a tank (I don't even think it's a vechicle - why would an iron egg need a pilot?).
+ProvenBeat yeah they would probably use that to break through enemy defenses line crush them but still it does not have any weapons on it just a armored egg that one of the worst stupid most dumb crazy idea
Rjfromthebay2001 Yet it's still a better weapon than Tsar Tank XD
Why the sad song?
not sad, the music is beautiful. A long-gone era
