I already built mine Tuesday haha, couldn't wait! Took around 6 hours by myself. Honestly was like Adult Legos haha, I was like a kid in a candy store. Still watched the video though, thank you!
This is the first assembly video I have ever found where you actually explain what tools we need. I’ve watched literally hundreds of videos, and not once does anyone f*cking say what tools I need. Thank you
Excellent video. Followed it step-by-step for a near trouble free install. Then came Step 44 at 39:40. I have my rack 3.75" off of the wall. The lower two bolts were a challenge. My arm wouldn't fit between the wall and the shroud to get the two lower nuts in place. Solution: Took a 17mm ratcheting wrench - taped that wrench to two 24mm wrenches to create one long stiff handle. Then used painter's tape to hold the nut into the 17mm socket so it protruded just a little. Then lowered the nut down until it was over the bolt. By using the 24mm wrenches as the "stick" - it was stiff enough that I could hold the nut on the bolt with enough force that I could then turn the bolt from the front in to the nut. A hard one person job that took patience. Very happy it worked because I had my rack exactly where I wanted it and did not want to attempt moving it. I could have left the shroud off, but it looks so much better with the shroud in place. Thanks Rep! awesome product.
Super helpful video, just wrapped up my installation! Quick recommendation for a follow-up video though. For those of us that went with the 80" rack because we're basement dwellers with tight ceilings, it would be good to have a few recommended assembly revisions added. I had to install most of the top cross member components on the ground first, something I realized I would have to do after the watching the entire video before starting my assembly.
How much will the banana clip cost so that we can have one for the bottom low row as well. Would be nice to not have to move it from lat pull down to low row all the time!
Got mine delivered prior to this video lol, would've been nice to have had this video posted sooner as a few steps weren't clear on the instructions, but overall installation process wasn't bad, I referenced the ares 1.0 assembly video for similar steps where applicable for assurance.
Just built mine following this and this was so helpful! I still made a couple obvious mistakes. Don’t be me. I put the pulleys from the top bar on the bottom. (Took a lot of work lol) couldn’t fit the single pulley on top and that’s how I figured out what I did. I also put the shrouds on incorrectly. Easy to confuse the side ones, but if you just take note of the cut out for the lower pulley on the floor it is simple! Also, if you set this up against a wall, it is extremely difficult to put the center shrouds on. I ended up duct taping a wrench to a pole to hold the nut in place while I torqued the bolt, but it took probably 30 minutes to do.
All in all, this is such a quality trainer for the price. I am immensely impressed. The quality is amazing for something designed in the states and manufactured in China. I can’t wait to start my workouts!
@ thanks! Workouts have been much better! Do you guys sell the carabiners separately? And also the 2 to 1 carabiner attachment for the lat pull down? Would love to grab extras.
Our rack was delivered but not the Ares. If we push it all the way back to the wall (final position), will we still be able to assemble Ares 2.0 without pulling it back away from the wall?
When you adjust the cables up and down, there's never any slack to worry about, obviously?.. I never really thought about it until now having to assemble one myself
I watched this video before I got my delivery and it seemed great, but definitely prefer a regular paper setup guide over this. Having to pause and remind constantly and squint at every bolt to make sure I was getting the right one. There's no way I'm doing this again. If I ever sell my house this rack will be included.
In addition to the functional improvements over Ares 1.0. There are obvious improvements on assembly too. 1. No front to back cross member in the upper rear. 2. The shroud uses real screws or bolts. Ares 1 was a pain with the tiny screws. 3. The pulleys do not need to be removed to run the cable. This is the most appreciated improvement. 4. Rear bottom is not as bulky.
Thank you so much for the video - the paper instructions could have been done a lot better. Also sad to see someone commenting a month ago saying they received theirs when I was a day one/first 100 purchase and just received them 19 NOV!
Is it possible to build this with a 30-inch + 30-inch configuration? Compared with the 16-inch + 40-inch configuration, it would be only 3 inches longer. Seems like I would lose a little range of movement in the cables, but otherwise it would be fine. Thanks for your time!
@@BigRed-jh5wf It will be very hard to install given you may need more room to tighten bolts from the top but you should have enough room to stand the uprights up but you will loose the ability to do pull ups
While I'm sure I'll love my PR-5000 rack and Ares 2.0 I can't keep waiting on accessories for it unless REP actually announces it's coming. They tease things like ISO Arms 2.0, belt squat 2.0, etc but I'll look at other systems if they're available. The new Bulletproof ISO Arms drop in a couple weeks so you'd think REP would at least mention theirs now if they want to deflect some sales from Bulletproof.
Why not all pulleys are pre-installed? Maybe it was mentioned and I just missed the reasoning, it was hard to follow at times because the lovely Kat kept distracting me :D
It is not, as we have to ship a lot further and across the border - check out the REP Canada page here - repfitness.com/pages/international-distribution
Anyone else noticing the pull off the front pulleys isn't very smooth. Pretty disappointing. Also I'm having an issue where the pin rod on one of my stacks doesn't sit straight and from the middle stack down there's a lot of resistance when pushing in the pin

They are different sizes but you will just have to upgrade crossmembers and add uprights and then purchase new cables to fit!

Our RBS (rear base stabilizer) and weight storage on the back... both of those would help stabilize a 4 post rack.
