Any product that improves the look of the cockpit and makes it look even more real is fine by me. And don’t forget as we get older our eyesight may start to deteriorate. So these kinds of products are Most welcome. I bet most modellers cannot achieve the level of detail offered by this new technology.
@@embryophytelove it's great to hear so many modelers get back into the hobby after such a long break, I've been building on and off for about 45yrs and seeing other peoples work always keeps me inspired.
I learned a lot this one. Using the putty to mask the instruments and the trick with putting the decals on the paper towel in water. That will make my stenciling go a lot quicker.
The photos near the video's end(with the match) show your results; you're simply using computer tech to recreate - to scale - the real thing. Your results are exquisite. WOW!
Apologies for being late to this party, but this former Tomcat Tweaker is mighty impressed with both your delivery and your work. Bravo Zulu! I was an Avionics guy and spent many hours in both seats doing maintenance. She was a hard bird to keep in the air. One thing -- the glareshields were not leather, they were cloth. Brand new, they were black. They quickly faded however to a tan color very close to what you chose, so all is fine. Also, those things were nearly impossible to get from supply. The RIO's port (rear seat, same side as the boarding ladder) glareshield was always the most beat up. There were several cannon plugs under that side and we were in there a lot. The half sections were joined by a wide band of hook & loop (a.k.a. Velcro) which would rapidly deteriorate. All in all, they were a pain in the a$$...
Fantastic. Just got this kit myself after looking at it for a long time. Looking forward to building along. Seems I need to go shopping for the extra bits.
I've been wary of 3D decals since I first heard about them. I was concerned that, like pre-painted PE details, they would be a little too flat and not 3D enough. After watching this, though, my mind has definitely been changed. The cockpit looks simply incredible (thanks in no small part to your amazing skill as a modeller!)
Beautiful, I built the Monagram F14A Tomcat kit many years ago and spent months on it putting in all the detail I could, wish those 3D printed decals were available back then, they are superb, really looking forward to the next video, Thank you, take care.
Increible trabajo. Para mi, el mejor canal de modelismo. Con uno de tus videos pinte mi Wingnut wings de madera. Resultado increible. Muchas gracias por tus trabajos
Love the Quinta studios stuff! To me it's the same as using PE, it just makes the model that much nicer! Awesome cockpit, so detailed, and the seats! 👍
Lol! The definition may have been a bit exaggerated. But t's metaphorically ;) You will see on the second part. The completed main parts (one of them the cockpit tube) are almost getting together without an glue.
Wow, I really enjoy this channel, every video i see i learn a new technique that blows my mind on how it works, it has already improved my airbrushing skills by a lot and it easily has some of my favorite reference kits for learning.... wow! Excelent work.
Thanks for that lovely vid. Since I recently ordered the F-14D kit from Tamiya this inspired me to get the brasin and eD decal sets you used. I feel it's doing that awesome kit right.
hello again I was wondering since you are so good at explaining almost every detail of your work and listing the paints and detail items would love to see a video of the famous Tamiya A1H sky Raider thank you
Beautiful work. I have adapted 3D printing to my car modeling as well. In my opinion 3D printing is in my opinion the next evolution of detail modeling. It's simply the new scratch building. If you are designing your own parts it requires a completely different and advanced set of new skills. and even if you are just using pre designed purchased files or parts it still take work to make those parts fit correctly. There are some builds where you can look at it and just tell there is a lot of 3D printing. Parts don't fit right, parts aren't scaled correctly, parts aren't cleaned and prepped well. a lot of layer lines, defects, etc. But very good modelers make the installation look seamless as if those parts belong to the kit.
Nicely done :) I have this kit and bought the Quinta Studio's set for it too. I also got the Eduard's Brassin resin cockpit set for it which is also very fine and accurate, almost to claim it is far better than the Aires one. While I like very much this outcome I partly agree with Scale Hangar 182 that a nicely painted and finished resin cockpit does more justice to a fine modeller. So when I come for my build the plan is to do both the Quinta Studio's and the Eduard Brassin, and then decide which one to use on the model.

This makes me want to start building models again. Build them slow and detailed and not fast and sloppy this time. Your a Picasso of model building.
I just got back into it after 35 years. I enjoy it more now than I did as a kid. Do it. You won't regret it.

OMG that 3D decal is a GODSEND!
Amazing build so far, did not know these 3D cockpit details existed. Looking forward to the next video. Thank you for uploading.

These decals are a game changer 👌🏾😸
Model making of the highest order - superb!
These aftermarket cockpit details are phenomenal!
It is always a joy to look at your work
Man you are THE master. This isn't just model building, it's professional artwork.

Nothing like a Tamiya kit to bring back that loving feeling!
Man, what a patience, impressive work, no words
Ohhh! Those little part are fancy! Nice work!
It's a really nice cockpit.
I learned about the existence of 3D decals that I didn't know about.
That's amazing.
Always fine and politely work. Beautiful cockpit !

Immediately subscribed after watching this. I just got this kit today and was looking for inspiration for my upcoming build.
Excellent, highly detailed. Those 3-D decals really set it off.
BRAVO!! AMAZING WORK
Nice jet kit
Can't wait to see how 3d will be used in other scales, I have a feeling the days of bending brass for hours at a time are coming to a end.
I guess it depends on the part. Not sure ship railing etc will be replaced soon, but I bet you are right with other stuff.

Amazing how just a Tamiya cockpit can get me excited :)
