I worked with a technician that told me a story of what happened when he was using a similar drill press, holding metal similar to this when the bit grabbed and pulled his left hand into the drill bit. The tendons in the index and middle fingers got caught on that bit, and pulled them out from the inner wrist connections to the muscles that pull those tendons to operate your fingers. So after many surgeries, they connected all four fingers to a common pulling muscle, so he could operate his hand close on a bottle, but he said there was zero strength in that, i.e. he could not hold it strong enough to pull the cap off (and that was a bottle opener, or church key). He told me this because I was also using my left hand to hold work, on the same drill that caused injury to his hand. So just because you see it done this way on youtube, does not mean it's the right way to do this. The other major safety issue is the gloves, they make it worse in releasing the grabbed piece. They have their place, but not around rotating spindles.
Outside of that, it's a very nice build. I like the handle build. The foot print of the base should be larger to reduce the tendency to shoot out. As well the top needs something that will lock into the underside and not slide out, that could be scary, as what happens with that air volume that may exceed the length stretching strain, and blow up via the stress on the rubber to metal bonding mechanism. Nice video editing, welding is pretty good for quick, and the grinding of the welds making it look like a pro finished product. I could see you using a bernoulli siphon to create a good vacuum from the common air source, and pull the partial vacuum that it looks like you intended, to retract the air spring down flat.
that's why I normally use latex gloves because if they do catch they just rip off, which I have had happen, too many horror stories. I don't recommend regular gloves near a spinning bit carbide or drill unless both hands are holding the grinder itself.. Rather use no gloves if have to.. I Don't have a drill press but have used a die grinder and the bit caught my latex glove and ripped it off, I got a little scratch but was ok. Most of time I Don't wear gloves because of potential grabbing.
@@turboimport95 That's why I'm missing my pinky and half my ringfinger and missing fine coordination in the 2 other fingers. I also thought that latex would tear, and it did, and it stretched, untill it became a string and pulled my hand into the drillpress. Never, ever, will I use gloves at a drillpress, even if it's latex or any other "fragile" material. I've learned my lesson the hard way. Getting dirty hands or mangled hands... I choose dirty, no doubt.
My doctor said to me while stitching up my wound : there are some mistakes you can't afford to make even once ..
With the Addition of a u swapped Sill locator like a scissor jack has this would lift alot better due to alignment great job 👏
That music has got to go.......
all you need to add is 2 flat pieces sandwiched together to grab the pinch weld to make it safer and pop out from under the car.
I have ready pieces of tire for different cars, the surface of the upper part is large and does not slip
It looks great but I was curious about if the step bit leave a sharp edge at an angle that would damage the rubber hose in time?
Çok güzel olmuş 👍
А подушка sp55222-2p выше. И вообще, баловство это, надо сразу sp55300-2p22 брать. Она честных полторы тонны поднимает
nice video ! can i get some information from u abt this project ? bcause i need to build this thing for my project studies.
FYI a real air jack is stable, there is a telliscoping steel center section so it goes up and down strieght without any wobble. You can buy the real thing for less than this build costs.
I'm always down with someone building something, but is this better than the ones you can buy?
Were din you get the 2 rubber wheel?
where can you buy just the bellows like you have (or similar)
I found it in a truck dealership, used for suspensions for trucks and trailers
Very Good!... #20 ✝ {5-28-2022}
Super
Stopped at 2:22 when there are hundreds vids of someone making something that I have a chance to attempt... but Koteski went past that = good by.
You'll def need blocks to mk it work on a truck
Sir, you done a great job. Plz add 12v air pump. 🎉
