Thank you Mr. Cliff for another great video. I recently subscribed to your channel, enjoy all of your videos. My wife and I recently took our Sea Eagle 370 out, on a harbor paddle here in Southern Cali at Huntington Harbor , loved it, was surprised that this kayak would still hold air after 5 years in the garage, and now am looking into a versatile Sea Eagle inflatable for a future filled with great times on the water. We are looking at the 380X , the 385 FT, and the paddle ski. We have several scenarios for each type where we live. Ocean, harbor, river, lakes , and maybe some class 1, 2, and maybe even 3 river runs within a 4-5 hour drive . Thanks again for a very entertaining, inspiring, and informative channel…
Hi Keith - Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! For everything you want to do, including Class 1-3 river runs, the Explorer would be the boat for you. It’s an excellent do everything boat, just realize it is slower to paddle when on flat waters, but you can always had a Bixpy skeg motor for that added e-kayaking kick when on calm, flat waters. The Paddle Ski is great with a motor, but not very good at all for paddling, unless you are using pushing winds and currents to you advantage. The two times that I have been there, going back upstream was not too bad. I don't think I ever went upstream against the heavy outgoing tide. I don't think it would be too bad there though.
Looks like you have your boat registration on some type of mounting plate inside your boat? I'm looking of a way to temporarily display registration on sea eagle inflatable for when a motor is mounted.
Hi She And Me! I purchased plastic plates from West Marine that are specifically made to receive boat registration numbers. For now I have just been placing in the bow of the boat. Hi 👋 there! In Texas, and in most states I believe, once you put a motor on anything, you are required to register the boat. I put the numbers on plates, since you cannot really stick them to an inflatable hull. Safe adventuring out there!
@@KayakCliff ok thanks. I really didn't know you needed to do that with a motor. I went and googled Texas laws with motors, it didn't tell me exactly how much I was going to pay but I did learn other requirements. I see plenty of people without life jackets in Austin but yet it's a fine if caught I guess.
My wife and I are seriously considering purchasing the Sea Eagle PaddleSki. It’s wider than a canoe, of course, but do you think it could be fairly effectively paddled like a canoe, with two people? (After 3 rotator cuff surgeries, it’s pretty much use a motor, for me, though I could probably paddle kayak style also.) Thanks.
Hi Phil - Thanks for watching and your question too! I think it would be difficult to paddle the paddleski like a canoe, due to the width of the side pontoons. You would have to reach out there to get the canoe paddle in the water, & then it would be at too much of an angle. Kayak paddles would work best, but even if you plan on using kayak paddles, I would only paddle when wind & currents are in your favor. It motors best ,but can be paddles effectively if you are not fighting wind or currents. @ Thanks, Cliff. We ordered the PaddleSki with the Honda 5hp motor. (though I viewed your video of the Sea Eagle inflatable canoe this morning, and wished I had seen that earlier; I grew up on a lake, with a canoe.) But looking forward to fun. Thanks for your videos that helped seal the deal for us. Enjoy your boating!
Enjoy that PaddleSki. I believe you wanted to have the ability to use a motor too, right? In that case the PaddleSki will work best for you. Stay safe and happy new year!
Hi Jack! In most of my past videos I have used the NRS Ninja PFD which is an awesome, high end, minimalist PFD. In my most recent videos, I have been using the Sea Eagle pfd they sell on their site. Here’s the link: bit.ly/3mi9JTm
Great question, this location depends on the tides. You need to catch it at high tide to have a chance. Worst case, you slide the bixpy out for a little bit.
@@KayakCliff does the Bixby hang down further than the scag on the fast track 385 do you know, I'm thinking of getting that for my wife and I and this trip right here is similar to some of what we what we would like to do but I think the scag and the Bixby is mainly for deeper water but is you go from deep to shallow how do you manage those
@@KayakCliff ok thank you, still trying to decide between the explorer and the fast track but leaning more towards the fast track because I don't think we will be doing any whitewater rapids mostly flat water and some streams and rivers

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention my camera. Everything in that video was shot with a GoPro hero 10. I was shooting in 4K at 60 frames per second. I use the GoPro for just about everything that I do, unless it is a drone shot. Sometimes I will have a few shots in there from my Sony RX100IV, if I need to zoom in to anything.
Hi there Rebecca! They sold that map at the launch site. There is a camp office where you rent kayaks at the launch site and they sell them. I think it was like $10.

What brand life jacket do you use kayaking ?
Hi Jack! In most of my past videos I have used the NRS Ninja PFD which is an awesome, high end, minimalist PFD. In my most recent videos, I have been using the Sea Eagle pfd they sell on their site. Here’s the link: bit.ly/3mi9JTm
So with the bixby would you be able to get into these offshoots with it still on or would i have to remove it every time.
Great question, this location depends on the tides. You need to catch it at high tide to have a chance. Worst case, you slide the bixpy out for a little bit.
@@KayakCliff does the Bixby hang down further than the scag on the fast track 385 do you know, I'm thinking of getting that for my wife and I and this trip right here is similar to some of what we what we would like to do but I think the scag and the Bixby is mainly for deeper water but is you go from deep to shallow how do you manage those
If the tide is high, you should be OK, as long as you steer into the channel that is deeper going up through there.
@kbrowniiee I think it hangs down the exact amount of the skeg. So, if you have to takeoff the skeg, normally, you would do the same with the Bixpy.
@@KayakCliff ok thank you, still trying to decide between the explorer and the fast track but leaning more towards the fast track because I don't think we will be doing any whitewater rapids mostly flat water and some streams and rivers
You scared me Cliff, it is Florida, what about alligators during your walk up in that narrow area ? :(. Also, can you advise what you used camera wise ? super good video quality.
Lol - I realized that while I was editing the footage. While wading down that beautiful segment of the crack, I gave no thought whatsoever about gators 🐊 Lol! Anyway, if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. Safe adventuring out there!
Hey, where did you get that map of the river?
Hi there Rebecca! They sold that map at the launch site. There is a camp office where you rent kayaks at the launch site and they sell them. I think it was like $10.
Were'd did you jump in at ?
I launched at the boat ramp, which is located at the campground. Can't miss it on the map. There is only one.
Hi there, I launched at the boat ramp which is located at the campground. There is only one and it is very close to the headspring. Easy to find on the map.
How do you keep from getting lost?
I use the map app on my iPhone. Plus, I purchased a map from the marina where I launched.
@@KayakCliff I have a Sea Eagle SUP 126 - I look forward to using it on the Chassahowitska. I'll make sure to get a map. Thanks!
Safe adventures, Bob!
Did you see any alligators other than manatees? ‘Cause I just got the same boat.
Hi Birdsin Clearsky! No, I did not see any alligators! I looked for them, but did not see any! Thanks for watching and commenting. Safe adventuring in 2022!
Have you seen the Pakayak kayaks ?
Hi 👋 Robert! Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, I have seen the Pakayak kayaks, but no in person. Only on videos. I would like to try one out sometime!
