For those of you who don’t want to install a boost gauge you can use your phone with an elm obd2 Bluetooth and dash command app to monitor boost level, coolant temp and clear codes as well as get a hp/torque estimate.
Good lord Michael, do NOT listen to the ham-fisted advice from the other guy about running it through your cigarette lighter. /facepalm... That won't allow it to dim with your dash lights and will force you to drive around with this stupid gauge blinding you brighter than all your other dash lights. That's fine if you're a 17 year-old boi-racer, but not if you care about your car and want to wire it safely and correctly. ---> Here's how to wire it correctly: Simply pop out the headlight switch block on the left from behind and unclip the wiring harness. You will be using the black wire in pin four and the orange wire with the blue stripe in pin three. The orange/blue wire is the power from the dimmer and the black is your ground. That way the lighting in the gauge will be wired correctly. Beware Internet hack advice. Good luck!
@@NorthernChev This has been a hangup for me, as well- I have an iPd gauge and it has three wires on it: black, white, and red. I assume black is ground, but which one do I plug in next to the blue/orange wire, and what about the wire that's left over? I can't find anything on iPd's site about this, either.
@@brelder27 Hi, Brian. I am unfamiliar with that particular product, but, I have had good luck with emailing ipd, and have even spoken with them on the phone (for technical support) recently on a different product they sold me. They were very helpful. I would start with an email, though, and give them a day or two to respond as staff is less due to COVID.
A 10$ bluetooth elm327 connected to the OBD port, and the free app Torque could have saved you the hassle, actually there are tons of apps out there that can display and record engine data in real time.
Torque is great. I was working on using it as a gauge cluster in my Subaru before I sold it. Building a tablet into the center console. When I get my c30 it may pick that project up again.
I looked into doing this but then realised the easier way was to use an OBD2 adaptor with a phone app and get much more info (I was getting 12.8psi stock btw). If you want a more permanent gauge setup, products like the ScanGauge 2 are lower profile, show a range of info, and are more readily mounted, albeit with a cord you need to hide, and it can match your illumination colour also.
You should check up that hose after a drive when the engine is really warm. My hose delivered with the gauge got all warm and soft. Vacuum made it flat..... So make sure you got a good hose in your kit! You should also polish your headlights, fun and quick fix! And as a extra modify the lights. paint the black backround car color? I Put in projector beams in my s60 lights, fitted also clearglass onte them... made a whole new look for the car!
UA-cam is killing me. The c30 is the one I want to see them most and UA-cam never notified me this was posted nor showed it in my feed. But the s60 and v70 stuff I get notified for right away. I really hate UA-cam some days.
@@ShiftingLanes yeah I do. I've had this problem on and off with other channels too. I follow FPT and ever since they have been back from their season break, I don't get notified. The youtube algorithm is just bad 😑
Your videos have definitely improved, the sound quality has improved greatly. Just be glad that you did not have to work on sending a vacuum hose through the fire wall of a P80.
It’s way easier on a p80, you can route through the fuse box under the hood and the just run it through the firewall into the car. You don’t even have to take the kick panels off if you don’t want to.
Comeon' Chad, 13 pounds? We need to bump those numbers up! 😂 Boost gauge is super clean man, can't wait to see more P1 chassis goodness. My world is too overwhelmed by P2 stuff.
Haha, well I'm sure I could have gotten more out of her, but the safety of holding a camera, flooring the car at night, after a snowstorm 1 day earlier was.... let's say sketchy. Get a better idea once we hit the dyno again. That said, I agree... Insert Matthew McConaughey meme here!
I had just finished installing the entire Elevate Intake system and got tuned to stage 1 (now 15psi at top of 2nd gear) with Elevate as well. Next up is motor mounts for me :). Can we ever do a review with my car pls?
Which fuse outlet did you use as a power source? I have my boost gauge all set up but I have been unable to use the light functionality because the recommended power source wasn't working. I have a 2012 R-design if that makes a difference
forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?188054-Boost-Gauge-Guide&p=2061691&viewfull=1#post2061691 Follow this install guide, I believe all the wiring is the same for C30's regardless of year/trim. You may have to modify instructions for your particular gauge, but regardless you will most likely have +12v, Remote, and Ground. All three of which are covered in this write-up!
ShiftingLanes That sucks. Can you make a video on what happened or why you had to sell it? Also, I see you’re in NJ. I live in NY; do you happen to have any parts left over you want to donate/sell to a fellow IS300 enthusiast? Thanks!

C30 time! Let's go!
Rich is the man. He’s done so much work on my s60r haha
I agree Moosetech1 is the man. Very comfortable around Volvos.

hey do you happen to have a link tot he scanner you bought?
Why didn’t you show how to wire the gauge in to light up? That’s what’s keeping me from finishing mine.
+ \ GROUND FROM 12V OUTLET ON CIGARETE LIGHTER. EASY.

Looks good Chad! Rich just installed my dual gauge cluster for me a month ago!
Wow that boost cauge looks awesome at night! It fots the place very well!
Great car, gotta love a boost gauge. I also love the Volvo community- it’s the best out there #volvoforlife
That is a slick boost gauge well done🤘🏼👀
I would love to get this boost gauge but I'm from Sydney and we don't have these here

What? All P80 got a prerouted 16mm hose thru the firewall
Which model boost gauge did you use? Was the wiring just the ground and then power to the dimmer switch?
Is that the Turbosmart TS-0101-2023?
Can you please send me link at to where to order the bezel. Please
Ha that's funny I actually installed one for a customer a couple days ago and its very nice.
Can you dim the brightness on the gauge that thing is hella bright looks good though.
Yes. Its tied into the dash dimmer

Getting a volvo c30 in the next week or so .. how to identify which volvo c30 it is.
Love the volvo content but what happened to the Lexus build
...does the light inside the boost gauge dim in conjunction with the cars instrument cluster lights???
I had just finished installing the entire Elevate Intake system and got tuned to stage 1 (now 15psi at top of 2nd gear) with Elevate as well. Next up is motor mounts for me :). Can we ever do a review with my car pls?
just ordered me a S60R shirt
Awesome! Thanks for the support. More Volvo inspired shirts coming in the next few months 🙂
Dude you really should have used the IPD method. SOOOOOO much easier.
What is the ipd method
Which fuse outlet did you use as a power source? I have my boost gauge all set up but I have been unable to use the light functionality because the recommended power source wasn't working. I have a 2012 R-design if that makes a difference
I wired mine directly into the headlight controls.

Cool, thanks guys
Ready to go
Where did you get the boost gauge from? Does moose tech sell the cluster surround ?
Ipd, and hit him up. Hes really happy to help the community.
the old volvo wheels looked so better
Where are the Lexus IS300 videos??? 🥺
Sorry to say I had to sell that car.
-Chad

Only part I have left over is the aem ecu and pnp wiring harness.
Ooo noice
Any s80 owners here? If yes what year and model
All you guys talk too much. Less talking and more installing
