Had many puppies over time , they will cry when your on the trainer and your only a couple of feet away, but in time they know the routine , as soon as they hear my cleats disconnect from pedals its attention time for them, thats why its called training, you have to train the human lol but its true , be consistent with all you do and even with potty training, yes there will be mishaps but a food treat is a good learning training tool.
Having a pup is like having a child. My son is 2 years old now and I have been out on the bike 3 times with the wife since he was born. Good luck with the juggling. (Oh, stinky blankets and toys. Put them in the freezer for a few hours. It helps to kill smelly bacteria but dogs can still pick up deep scents)
We have had border terrier puppies for many years and used a mix of crates and more recently a dog pen for when we are out. We got it from amazon or EBay - one of them. Works well but key is to use from early on so they don’t know any different. We can honestly say that we have the best of both worlds - the fun of a dog but still operate our lives! Good luck.
wow ! she's a beaut. Sounds like two Wahoo kickers to the answer to your noisy indoor cycling lol. Id put another blanket in with her for a couple of days with the one she has already and then take the other out and wash it. At least some scents will be on the other one by then. I've actually been watching dog videos as I'm in the middle of trying to adopt a dog. Clearly living in the perfect location live you two is perfect for dogs. PS cant imagine teething puppies and thin carbon wheels and frame states been a good mix lol
I have to agree with the few comments I’ve read, you’re free time will shrink massively. I think my cycling time has reduced by over 50% since we got our little four-legged bundle of joy 18 months ago. Dog walks replace cycling I’m afraid. You may have it a little easier with a smaller dog but I’m afraid you’ve just got yourself a baby/toddler/teenager for the next 2-3 years! You’ll love it though! Bless Bean! So cute!!
What a gorgeous little pup Bean is! We have a puppy (dog now, I guess) who is finally starting to come out the other side of puppyhood at 18 months old and the best piece of advice I can give is to be consistent in everything you do. There will be days where it seems like she is learning and listening to every word you say and there will be days where it feels like she is wilfully ignoring you. Be consistent and patient in your training and eventually it will all click into place for her and the good will far outweigh the bad. One other thing - the puppy blues are very much a real thing, especially in those moments where she isn't listening. You might even have regrets about getting her and feel bad about having those regrets. But then she will do something adorable (because a puppy just going about her day is adorable) and your heart will melt and all of the frustration just slips away. You're certainly in for a wild ride in owning a puppy but it is hand on heart the most wonderful, rewarding thing to watch her learn and grow.
If you leave her something to cuddle up to that smells of you two will help while stealing her blanket. Don't leave anything you value on the floor to be chewed up. How cute she looks so sweet.
@@bunbeard1332 I've had dedicated bikes with well-padded comfy baskets to reduce road buzz, and as some folks have suggested, consistent positive reinforcement, rinse, repeat. It's a process that can take days or weeks once you begin and depends on the doggo. We familiarized the dog with a basket (one of her familiar scented blankets) on the floor w/ treat reward, install basket on the bike, and just put our pup in there for a bit w/ treat reward, praise reinforcement, no riding. Depending on how that progresses, the first "ride" was walking the bike with her in the basket 'round the driveway, then, if that worked, to the park at the end of our street. The first real ride was really short down the street to the now-familiar park to burn energy, then back home, gradually lengthening the ride. Here's an impressive scenario (go to 8:00 for John & Mira's bike-packing rig) ua-cam.com/video/GWAZA5IK0DE/v-deo.html . Mira also has her own insta page, @mira_la_perra . It so depends on the animal and how far you want to take things. I'm sure others have plenty of experiences to share. We did wait until pups were a bit older, more physically developed. Basket intro can happen very young. Some dogs take to it, some don't. Some humans take to it, some don't. Right now, just enjoy that unconditional puppy affection, energy, enthusiasm, and general canine wackiness.
@@bunbeard1332 Like this, ua-cam.com/video/IfGO9NLjEPM/v-deo.html . But truth be told, depending on the size of Bean, John & Mira's setup might be better indeed. This would all be dependant on Bean liking it though. :-)
Awesome news about the puppy, Bean is a little beauty, she will probably calm down the biting once she loses her puppy teeth and her adult teeth grow in. I've had over 20 dogs in the past 30 years, they definitely bring joy to a house.
Bean is gorgeous. And biting mmm🤔We have a 4 month old std. Poodle. Still loves to chew. ANYTHING!! Like all new family members they will cause change. But ideal for us humans in the time of entry back into lockdown. Or for us Melbournians on our way out. Good luck
i would not wash it,,,,,,,,,,,we have had 5 Pugs,in the past still have 3,now, Dogs are great always pleased to see you come home, Take care with her, Be careful when on the turbo dont let her paw near the chainwheel ,,,,,,,Enjoy her,,,,Lloyd.
Beautiful dog, but you’ve had a shocker there. Love my kids but told them under no circumstances will they ever have a dog while they are living under my roof. The older I get, the less complication and responsibility I need to add to my life. I’ve got enough already thank you 🤣
I think you might be better off just putting her in the crate and up on the turbo slow so it’s not to noisy and slowly build it up over a couple of days then leave the door open and she might just wonder about I do believe that’s how gun dogs are taught with guns and the quicker she gets used to it the better for you.
I've got a border terrier, and we spend most of our time trying to get him to sleep and if he's not sleeping we are designing new walking routes to tire him out. I've even started running with him, canicross looks fun!
Jack's are great. My Jack mix is fine with indoor cycling. He is also good at running with me. I try to get my dogs to live round me, not me live my life round them. Dogs can respond to routine. If I am going out for a bit I have a quick walk with Jack or do something to tire him out a bit so he sleeps while I am out.
I have two recommendations for the pup. First is try not to over handle the dog and designate time doing dog stuff (walks and play) and time when the dog is crated or on it’s own. That way it gets conditioned around your lifestyle and not vice versa. Second is designate dog zones in your house. If you allow the dog into all of your space then it will expect to be with you. I have two collies and put serious effort into their health and well-being but they can also be left on their own for several hours without any stress.
As long as she gets used to the noise young she will be fine, just keep her in one space away from the trainer as you don’t want her wandering over and a pedal bumping her on the nose then she will associate the trainer with that, Keep the blanket until she is sleeping through the night.
Welcome to my world... I have to admit - my cycling form is not what it was pre puppy.... ! be prepared for a dip in time on the bike and drop in power as a result... my pup is now 1, but its still hard to find time to get out on the bike to ride as much as i'd like....

Exciting news!! Congratulations on your new addition.😍😍😍

You won’t be riding your bike that much now , be more worried how long can you you leave Bean alone for , a dog is for life not just for Xmas 💕
Definitely no puppies near turbo, a pedal strike wouldn’t be nice.🐶 Bun, Beard & Bean vlog now.🤣

I'm sure you have researched all about puppies but to add to it I have sent a leaflet via messenger. Lots of fun ahead.
You need to get a buddyrider. Me & Bee (toy poodle) get out every day on the bike. best thing I bought for my bike
HI BEAN!!!!
❤️❤️❤️
You need to get a doggy backpack and some doggy goggles for your new doggy copilot
Roger that 🙌🙌
Well, there goes your free time. Dog walks instead of cycling now.
1:56 *awwwwww*
I KNEW IT
You did!
What camera and lense you using mate?!?!
You need one of these:
www.dutchdogdesign.com/screen/product/doggyride-mini/language/en
We have one for our pup Rosie and she loves it.
For me the big decision to make is, is shes allowed on the sofa or not. I lost that very quickly and now I am not the owner of my sofa any more.
Yeh that choice was lost to us minute 3
Read title... "Puppy"... Like the video... then watch...
You’ve made a bean mistake
Showed this video to Luke, now wants another dog!! 🤦🏻♂️
