Thank you! I started transcribing full time in January, and I keep coming back to this video to check my technique. It has definitely saved me a lot of pain!
Most things were correct, although she forgot a few things. Examples: Your arms must be by your side at a 90 degree angle. Your thumbs must be curved under almost touching your palms and not sticking out. Your back must be straight up and leaning slightly forward. You must be a hand span away from the desk or table. Your keyboard must be at the very end of the table to make your 90 degree angle. Your wrists must be up in the air to prevent injury. Now some of the things she did say were correct I just added additional information to what she said. Right now I'm in Keyboarding so the technique skills are still fresh in my mind.
iiKawaiiFox I don't do half the stuff you said but can easily get over 100 wpm. All this stuff is just posture and techniques to help beginners but are not necessary at all
Well everything is so great.. didn't know about the wrist thing and also "pinky for enter and backspace" i tried it several times.. i can't backspace with my pinky just enter and i've been using it for enter for a long time but the backspace >.< can't
Thank you for the views! I am in California, specifically in the central valley. I created this cheesy video as an assignment for an online class and have been using it with my students ever since.
QUESTION: I am now typing with "quick, snappy" strokes and it is working out much better, thanks. But the problem is, that as the keys start to melt, my fingers are sticking to them. I tried using less lighter fluid, but the keyboard won't stay lit for very long without it. Oh, and BTW, now I don't have fingerprints anymore :-( But other than that.....
I used to type like that and I used to average 125 wpm on Typeracer with that technique, but have since changed it to using a wrist rest, achieving basically the same speed after a month of learning to adapt to the change.
+velikopakovanje Actually it's correct. You can't rest your wrists or arms on the table, unless you want injury from typing. Plus people can take breaks from typing.
Ugh. How the HECK am I supposed to keep my fingers on home row and reach over with my pinky to tap enter or backspace? Hitting the backspace button without maneuvering my fingers closer to it is impossible. AGH. I hate this. No wonder I cheated on Mario Teaches Typing as a kid.
wow what the people that makes this video u nderstands is that keyboarding has to do with ur own feeling not with some tactics wow jsut getting so botherd with theese videos.
GUY ACROSS THE ROOM IS WATCHING THIS. IT IS SERIOUSLY MORE ANNOYING THAN PEOPLE WHO TYPE IN ALL CAPS. IF I HEAR MOZART AND GRIEG AGAIN I'M GOING TO PUNCH SOMEONE.
I am a sexy leyboard person on the computer I can type without looking at my keyboard I am the fastest typing person in my little hometown in omaha nesbraska so if you want to be a fooder typing person like me I can sho you how to dko what I so

I learned by watching this video how your posture is very important for typing.

Is there a way I can edit the closed captioning to correct grammar, etc.
It's hard for me to use my pinky fingers. I have no strength in them. And they are numb half the time lol. I'm missing a knuckle bone in one of them
Thank You.

Try and try again
Exactly what Iam doing now

the pinky has to be 'bionic' surely! Jumping about continually!
Wow, everything up to 2:25 I've been doing wrong all my life...

I've been typing wrong for the past 10 years,fml...
Only 3,5,6 and 7 seem to be useful to me.
my whole typing stuff has been wrong so far D:
I like this video, but the credits song is kinda dark. All these rules are scary enough.
sama
Keeping your wrists off the desk is WRONG. No one can type like that. Fastest world typists don't use that technique. It makes your arms hurt.
I used to type like that and I used to average 125 wpm on Typeracer with that technique, but have since changed it to using a wrist rest, achieving basically the same speed after a month of learning to adapt to the change.
Yeah I agree, it puts pressure on my arm and it will hurt. I'm used to putting it on a table because it relaxes me while I type.
+velikopakovanje Actually it's correct. You can't rest your wrists or arms on the table, unless you want injury from typing. Plus people can take breaks from typing.

Hey future me in technology class
Good info, but annoying transitions...
agree with everything, except aw hell no, my wrists are totally going on the table. in fact my keyboard has this squishy thing for my wrists
Oh No!
i learned in computer class
Music so dramatic and nerve wracking. I felt scared
Mozart music
Banda no
Always use a mechanical keyboard. Das keyboard is highly recommended.

I too found this useful, however i disagree with wrist alignment. Worlds fastest typist tournament: watch their wrists: watch?v=m9EXEpjSDEw
