      Dan Bailey I was nervous the first time I did it cause of the ring dips. It’s definitely an arm burner

    That was one super intense workout big dawg! Can't believe you did all that after a chest workout too! Your strength and endurance are top shelf quality man! Super jacked bro and motivating and inspiring! Was hoping you'd do a gymnastics type of video. Thank you!

    Pull version: Pull Ups, bent over row, inverted/ring rows. Modify each to desired difficulty (from strict C2B to jump or banded/pick weight/pick leg elevation on rows). I’ll let Coach DB make it better.

    Doing "JT" for years, great and fun wod, all strict.. and always reminded me (and again suprise me :)) how easy confident can be first 21, but 15 and 9, not remotely close😂😂.

    Great stuff Dan loads of quality info. I'm a big fan of rings and bodyweight movements. I have never managed much progress on the handstand push-up. Any tips would be welcome

    good day sir.
    would you mind giving me your opinion on the following:
    I do my crossfit workouts in the morning (5am-6am, mon-sat) but would like to hit the gym in the afternoons for some isolation work, short metcon and mobility.

    The iron cross involves pressing your arms down as the weight of your body forces you to work against gravity. The exercise 2:10 works the opposite muscle action -- moving your arms up -- and thus antagonist muscles. Seems like a good general shoulder warmup but a pretty bad exercise to build towards an iron cross.

    • @OriginalDanBailey
      @OriginalDanBailey  4 роки тому +1

      Matthew Morgan your’re neglecting a few things.
      1. You bring the weights down from overhead not just up, training a highly effective eccentric contraction in a similar plane of motion.
      2. Maintaining a locked out elbow position in this plane of motion is exceedingly difficult and using dumbbells or plates as a progression will provide the proper training stimulus.
      3. This isn’t the only way to train or develop an iron cross. But it is a way, and it does work.

    • @matthewmorgan7171

      @@OriginalDanBailey Again -- super good shoulder warmup and probably a great way to work towards an inverted cross/build handstand strength. But it seems like saying it works towards an iron cross is like saying rows will train your bench -- they're beneficial for sure but it's an antagonistic muscle action.

    • @OriginalDanBailey
      @OriginalDanBailey  4 роки тому

      Your bench press analogy is what’s pretty bad. You’ve still neglected the action at the elbow for maintaining lockout, and you also neglected this as being a stepping stone to more advanced movements, which is why it is a way to train for the iron cross.

    • @matthewmorgan7171
      @matthewmorgan7171 4 роки тому

      @@OriginalDanBailey Yeah you're right the bench analogy wasn't the best -- especially since stronger lats can help improve your bench. I also definitely agree that building strength in a locked out straight arm position is necessary for any static gymnastics work. I still think if someone wants to work towards the iron cross the best way is to train a similar or identical muscle action -- but it was too much to say that the exercise is bad altogether. Sorry for being nitpicky!
