i am usually not into blue Maiko Hikizuri, but this shade of blue and the exquisite maple leaves, water and water grasses pattern, makes it one of the most beautiful Kimono i have ever seen, and the match with this stunning Darari Obi and Jade and silver Pocchiri is so perfect , this ensemble is stunning The Okasan of the okiya has the best fashion taste " !!!

Interesting how in their country those people would consider it the exploitation of women but they seem to be completely ok with it when it is a Geisha.
Same people i am sure saying that a muslim woman wearing a scarf is exploitative but a 15 year old Maiko forced to wear those clothes and dance and entertain customer and drink and not receiving a wage and then when she is adult not allowed to even marry or live with a man is not exploitative and is perfectly fine !
I just love the western double standards !

@@kachi2782 this maiko is an ofuku maiko. Ofuku means senior so she is above 18 years old.

But she chose to go into a maiko apprenticeship, the leader(okasan) of the maiko house interviews the potential maiko with her parents. She can quit the profession at anytime. Once she becomes a Geiko she is freelance and doesn't owe the maiko house anything and moves out and gets her own apartment. It's true Geiko ad maiko can't marry in Kyoto but in some rural areas the rules are not that strict. Please watch more documentaries to understand them more.

      Who’s exploiting the maiko/geiko though?
