Excellent stuff! What did you use as the frame for your block and tackle and how was the box's maneuverability on the pump trolley? Was it easy to lift it into position? Sorry about all the questions but I'm thinking of getting a k6 and it will involve getting it up a narrow drive at the side of the house and on to a patio at the back.

Hi there... no problem at all , ask away , always pleased to help. As you can see , we had limited space in our garden and a few obstacles like car port canopy posts and different ground levels. ... so it wasn't easy. Large sheets of plywood helped to level the ground , to be able to drag the box on the pallet truck easier, but I wouldn't av liked the thought of going up a patio step , that will be difficult my friend but not impossible. Have plenty of blocks of wood , ratchet straps and even a couple of car trolley jacks . To hoist ours into upright position we used ordinary scaffolding as the frame , and a pair of acro's, big block of wood across the top to take the weight. The winch was then strapped over the wood. As 1 person winched the box up, the other had the pallet truck holding the other end of the box and pushing and guiding it in as the box started to lift . What a relief when the box was upright. But still need shuffling, ratchet straps came in handy again . Time wise it took us about 7 hrs to manoeuvre into position and get it upright .. and no , it wasn't easy. Weighing around 3/4ton , it's not a soft job to do by hand , I hope this helped you a bit . Best of luck .

You went to all that trouble to make this Iconic piece of British architecture into a Toilet - why a toilet?? why not a fish tank or a green house or a library something people would like to see into. They were all taken away because people were using them as toilets.
The boxes were made to have conversations in - hate to think what you would talk about!
But I suppose you have at the very least kept the Red Telephone Box alive in peoples memories

Why a toilet you say ...?.... well as we bought the phone box for us, and nobody else , we thought it quite a quirky and practical idea as we love the phone box and needed a downstairs loo. This was certainly a cheaper and more interesting idea than building an extention to the house . A fish tank , greenhouse or library would not make sense to us, and as its already had a lot of interest because of its transformation into a toilet such as national radio and newspaper , I'd say people have seen and heard about it, loved it , and found it very inventive . But thanks anyway for your view. , I guess we can't please everyone , but like I said , we haven't done it for everyone, we've done it for us. And as its properly plumbed in , it's not quite like how phone boxes were used as toilets back in the day.

Kind or ironic consider they were mostly used as toilets anyway!
