Gregg, I discovered Eric Dolphy because of Zappa's tune '' The Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbeque'', that song showcases Zappa's compositional style and the talents of the original Mothers. The cover art for ''Burnt Weenie Sandwich'' by Cal Schenkel was comissioned for an Eric Dolphy album but somehow, instead, was used for Uncle Frank's album. I'm a long- time fan of Cecil Taylor, love all his work, solo, trio, big band, but my favorite is the work he did with the Cecil Taylor Unit. The albums, ''Live In The Black Forrest'' and ''One Too Many, Salty Swift and Not Goodbye'' are two absolute winners. Cindy just bought ''Chaos'', she has not read it yet. I would rather listen to my 2-cd set, ''Manson Speaks'' on the White Devil label. It was recorded on the prison telephone and a tape recorder that he ''illegally'' borrowed from someone on the ''outside''. It was recorded in the 1990's, and contains almost as much wit and wisdom as Mark Twain, and it is very, very offensive, to the average person. I'm above- average, so, I find it entertaining.
Michael - thanks for the informative post as always. I had no idea the weenie cover was made for dolphy - thats weird. thanks for the tips on Cecil T - he has so much stuff to sort through... . Yes - you are way above average - the Chaos book is better than I was expecting - so many layers - the Dennis Wilson connection is deeper than people expected.
I've heard the Manson/race stuff was bogus. I thought the murders were an anti-establishment thing - sticking it to the man and all that (in this case, literally). He was not a smart guy; the Geraldo Rivera interview is painfully stupid.
@@VinylRundown Gregg, that Manson interview with Geraldo Rivera was a classic TV moment, I was lucky back then when I remembered to record it onto a VHS tape. In the interview, Manson exposes the pompous, narcissistic personality of Geraldo Rivera. The interview gives me the feeling that Geraldo is jealous of Charlie because Charlie is more famous than him. Everything that Geraldo does, or has done, is just another way to shine the spotlight on himself, not the subject, or subject matter.
Moon To Earth sounds interesting. I never thought I would say that.
Was very funny and well written. Gail shafted Moon and Dweezil out of their inheritance.
hey so glad your back! Thumbs up! Trish
All of this looks interesting to me. I got the Moon Zappa book at the library.
Me too! Loved it. Thx

Vince Bugliosi wrote a good book on the OJ Simpson trial.

@@patrickkilpatrick1536 so who was the “mastermind” behind it all? 🤔
