Nice walk again Drew. I did this walk quite a few years back in the spring up to the lake. I think the hall was closed for the winter. I love hearing the steam trains running up the valley.
my neighbour growning up used to work at dudmastion as a volenteer. we visited him there and gave us a load of grapes from the estate. i turned them into wine. ended up by acident as a sparkling rosé. 😊
Had many great days barbel fishing at Hampton Loade and other spots between Bridgnorth and Bewdley. The alternative route that you took is along Long Covert and reaches the Estate at The Dingle. It is part of the recent 109 mile long distance Geopark Way from Bridgnorth to Gloucester. There is an excellent App that can be downloaded giving geological and other features found along the way. As for Long Covert it says “about 1.2 Km long. Largely hidden by trees are numerous old quarry workings in the local Carboniferous Enville beds (technically the Enville Member - a member of the Salop Group).” All the best, Peter.
Thanks Peter for sharing , brilliant wall across this river Severn looking forward for fishing again next year as I'll be doing some spots down here again - midlands outdoors
The ferry has not been in operation for some years. It was basically a line across which the small ferry was pulled. It’s very sad ( and annoying) that the bridge is not open to the public.
So much history what a beautiful spot, love the steam train, I rode our local steam heritage line recently thanks Drew
