My daughter turns 16 months tomorrow, I hope she can share my passion for shooting as she grows. Looks like you’ve raised your daughter well. Im sure you’re very proud. Great video. Subbed
my best friend's kid is 15 and all saturdays we go to a shooting range to teach him how to hold and shoot the gun and let me tell you that kid shoot better than i did at his age
On thing I'll add to this older video...the part at the end with the orange is the most instructive part. It shows the simple mechanics behind what he is talking about. As a martial arts instructor for over a decade, many similar simple mechanical things can be 'fixed' and all of a sudden something works a lot better. The trick, is that its HARD to see your own mechanics! Taping yourself at the range can help, but only if you know how to correctly evaluate what you see. But what really helps is taking a class from a good instructor! They can see what you cannot.
What an excellent presentation! I'm 80 years old and have struggled with reacquiring my target for years. After watching this video I went to the range to practice and couldn't believe the difference! I was virtually able to replicate the time and accuracy better than any time in my life. Recoil no longer confuses me!
That was one of the best explanations of how to improve shooting performance, and recoil control, that I have seen. Super good idea to have Lucy in the video. A great example of why your body/frame size is not as big an issue as one may think. Great video! (And great job Drew!)
many greetings from Czech Republic. You must be a proud dad. I have also a daughter and I enjoy seeing how you share your skill to your daughter! Respect.
She is really lucky to have you for her dad. I like how patient you are with her. I am like that with my daughters as well. Always encouraging them to be positive and do well. I am not a gun guy but I am learning. Your videos are very productive and helpful. Keep up the great job at sharing this kind of knowledge. Always with much respect, GM Peter Freedman, Weare NH.
What did I just see? I work as an LEO, and I'm lucky enough to be on the SOU team. We have absolute beasts on our team, but I've never seen anyone handle recoil like that. This is the first video I've seen from you; I like it a lot. You got yourself another subscriber.
Love the father daughter interaction. Used this video to prove to a small woman she's got nothing to worry about recoil. Clear and to the point videos.. Awsome
I've been shooting for several years but found your video helpful. My first thought was, easy for you with the big muscles but Lucy proved your instruction is valid and helpful.
I tried changing my grip yesterday at the range and man what a difference. It's amazing how much more control you have on your pistol when doing double taps or even going all out.
I watched your video and thought of my daughters...You are a lucky dad. You have a good daughter…. and she has a good dad! Good luck for your family and your video canal. Great job also.
After I watched this video I took your advice and have been able to manage the recoil so much better with any firearm I shoot. Thank you for helping me become a better shooter.
Love this channel. Very informative. Purchased my first firearm 1 month ago, G44 and practice 2-3 hours daily, 500-1000 rounds each time, starting with with .22 amo. I watch your videos every day after I get home from the range when I need to diagnose my mistakes. The improvement has been impressive and quick thanks to your help! Purchased my 43x 9mm today and fired it with the same accuracy as I do firing my G44 .22. It feels amazing, especially being a young, petite female with no previous experience who grew up somewhat biased against firearms (my position has changed), I also feel much safer and confident knowing my shots are accurate. I appreciate your videos! Going for my CCW this week. Wish me luck! 😊😊
Became a first time gun owner just a week ago. Went for a 9mm (Beretta P92) for stopping power and paid for a professional trainer to learn grips and body stance. Wow.. Mickey totally flipped what I learned on its head. No more 60/40 or 70/30 clap-trap for me. Center masses all the time now at 3, 15, and 20 yards. Subscribed! Going to binge watch ALL his videos and apply every week at the range. Incredible trainer. His daughter truly dispelled any myths about tinier frames being able to handle hand cannons like the Walther PPQ. Great father daughter relationship! The family that shoots together survives together hehe. Me and the misses are much more satisfied with the results. "I want a 9mm and trash this 22!" the wife exclaims after seeing his daughter get some in the 4" target. Double tap, and triple taps for now. Working on 10-15 speed shots eventually. Please keep them coming. I'm truly amazed!!
There are people who have phenomenal skill in their craft but are not the best in teaching that skill. Mickey Schuch has the phenomenal skill and is a gifted teacher. His excellent sense of humor and teaching style is the best I've seen.
Awesome video & great advice. Your training with your daughter reminds me of the times that had spent with my daughter at the range & how much she used to love the sport. My baby girl is gone now, died of cancer 4 years ago, but I hope I can pass the sport on to my granddaughters . Thank you so much for your training videos. 👍🇺🇸
This is the best video I’ve ever seen on how to hold and learn to control your gun and grip. Thanks very much for showing this, how you guys did it help a lot with Lucy doing it comparing from you two.
Thank you! So much valuable information in this. As a new shooter I watch this over and over. I also really like how you get to share your hobby & passion with Lucy; she seems to be a fast learner 👏🏼
Followup -- I took my XD9 to the range today and worked on implementing the techniques in this video. I'm nowhere near 10 shots inside 4" at 5 yards in less than 3 seconds, but I did shoot the absolute best that I have ever shot, and this was only my 3rd time after a layoff of at least 5 years. I was even complimented by the RSO on the tightness of my groups, especially at 5 and 7 yards. More work is necessary, but I'm excited.
Great vid! I’ve been working on my fundamentals for years.I have to say as a veteran who served as a medic in the infantry; it was humbling to see a teenage girl run rounds faster and more accurately than myself.
What an amazing video and an amazing father, bonding with his daughter. This is what this country needs. Parents mentoring their children and not politics telling us how to do it. God Bless.
It was really helpful to see a smaller lady shoot with great recoil control. It will help to easy the anxiety of my small frame daughters and wife as they learn to shoot. It also has helped this dad to have more confidence that my daughters will be able to handle a 9mm with proper training. I appreciate that you do not assume your listener knows all the safety precautions. Many do not. Well done!
Awesome video guys, you guys are totes adorbs. I wish I could get my girl interested in shooting. Looking at the slide while you were shooting, it looks like that's how semiauto handguns where designed to shoot. I think we're all doing it wrong. That's the best control I've ever seen.
I've been shooting at a local range a few times each week, but only for about the past 6 months. Using the Weavers stance, I can put most rounds in a 4 inch target at 5 yards while firing in groups of 2 or 3 shots, with a pause in between each shot to settle in on the target. I watched this video this morning, and went to the range to give it a try. Amazing difference! The first time out trying it, I had the same level of accuracy as when using the Weavers stance, but was firing off rounds so fast that the range safety spotter told me I was making him nervous, and asked me to slow down.
I loved that part! For a second there he’s Dad talking to his little girl! I feel bad for my daughters because I call them all sorts of ridiculous things now.
Mick, I've been following you for a number of years. Watched this one again, and it was like watching it for the first time. You always have great points that are so valuable to any shooter whether new or using it as a tool for work. It is especially useful to me to see you shoot as I only have one eye as well. So it takes away any excuses I might think I have! Keep'em coming brother. Thanks Rob
Mickey and Lucy: Outstanding! Now that I'm retired and spend a LOT more range time mastering my Beretta PX4 9MM, in both 115g FMJ and 147g JHP, I can take these practical tactical [sorry] tips with me.
I watch these videos over and over and try the tips and tricks at the range and i notice the difference from start till now , think you for putting these videos up , im not nervous to pull my trigger i how i used to be. And anticipate the shot and jerk the trigger , now its smooth all the way to wall and through
Best video on control. Thanks for putting it out. The slow motion shooting towards the end also let's the viewer see you shooting with both eyes on target as well. Lucy, shoots better than most LEO i train with. Keep up the great work.
1:45 For new shooters, it’s true that you want to grip the handle high, but make sure you don’t grip so high that the slide actually contacts the top of your hand when it cycles after the gun fires. Not only can this prevent the slide from fully cycling and cause a failure to extract the spent round, but the slide can actually slice your hand as it cycles. It tends to be a self correcting problem but better to save the bandaid for something else.
Having worked with quite literally 1000s of people, that's not a huge issue. It takes quite a bit. The slide isn't some light saber. In fact many great competitors and shooters have track marks across the web of the hand.
Wow! What a channel!! Definetely good! Not just the knowledge that is good, but the way you teach and express everything is pretty clear and even fun. Thank you!!
EXCELLENT GRIP TUTORIAL! The most complete AND accurate info regarding the ultimate power grip; the weak hand NEEDS to wrap as far as possible with the weak hand thumb pressing down and forward.
first time gun owner here at 41 years old, no one to teach me, long story short, first time at the range, I had the sloppy grip! gun kept having malfunctions due to it to. I got a long way to learn and I love these videos.
I can't really tell you how much my wife and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge in your videos. They have been a great help.Especially as new shooters. Thank you so much
I watched this 3 times in a row...so much great advise to soak in. I can't wait to apply it. Born and raised in Joliet. Been in Virginia for 22 years now. Thank you much for sharing brother! God bless you and yours.
Great shooting - by both of you! One of my daughters likes to shoot, and she's always been good at it. I have such a great time shooting with her. ... Thanks for the info!
Summer before my daughter went to college, I took her to college campus and taught her about situation awareness. Rode all the trains in DC. Talked to her about body language. During first year of law school we stated shooting monthly all 3 years of law school. She got her CCW. Proud of my baby girl.
I watched your training video the night before I went to my LTC class.. 15 at the X 19 at the 10 11 at the 9 3 at the 8 1 at the 7 The last shot was on the sillouette touching the 7 line.. I had to pull one to avoid a perfect score..👍🏿👍🏿.. this stuff works
Great video and absolutely love seeing a Walther get some attention. Absolutely amazing guns for the price and no other striker can compare with the trigger.
Mickey. I am impressed. I am impressed by your shooting ability. I am impressed by your daughter. I am impressed by the quality of this video in terms of production quality, in your clarity of explanation, and with your ability to demonstrate what you are saying. I am impressed that you use the simple physics to explain. This is the first video of yours that I have seen. I had just come off of a totally bad video trying to explain the same topics. The contrast is tremendous. I do differ in that this is rocket science. What ejecta goes out the back end of a rocket, by the equal and opposite reaction, sends the rocket up. It's exactly the same as what happens in a firearm.
Teaching your daughter how to shoot. Deserves respect for both you and her!
I was watching this video when my daughter (19) walked in ... she pulled up a stool and watched, then says "hey dad, can we do that?" I said sure! We have been shooting together ever since!

Warning! Dad joke at 3:40
I loved that part! For a second there he’s Dad talking to his little girl! I feel bad for my daughters because I call them all sorts of ridiculous things now.
I thought what a creep comment, didn't know it's his daughter
@@BoonieChris of course you thought it was a creep comment, you must have a creep mind.
you seem to be quite a weird person
NOOOO HAHAHAHAHA
Mick, I've been following you for a number of years. Watched this one again, and it was like watching it for the first time. You always have great points that are so valuable to any shooter whether new or using it as a tool for work. It is especially useful to me to see you shoot as I only have one eye as well. So it takes away any excuses I might think I have! Keep'em coming brother.
Thanks
Rob
Mickey and Lucy: Outstanding! Now that I'm retired and spend a LOT more range time mastering my Beretta PX4 9MM, in both 115g FMJ and 147g JHP, I can take these practical tactical [sorry] tips with me.
I watch these videos over and over and try the tips and tricks at the range and i notice the difference from start till now , think you for putting these videos up , im not nervous to pull my trigger i how i used to be. And anticipate the shot and jerk the trigger , now its smooth all the way to wall and through
This is the best example of recoil management I've seen. Excellent!!!
Thanks Chris
Recoil? What recoil. True G
rit!
Best video on control. Thanks for putting it out. The slow motion shooting towards the end also let's the viewer see you shooting with both eyes on target as well. Lucy, shoots better than most LEO i train with. Keep up the great work.
Sounds like Dan Akroyd Talking!
legit first thing I thought of
Can confirm
pea... tear... griffin. yeah, peter griffin.
jayo84 ...He sells a “Bass-o-matic” on another channel!
Sounds like he's from Chicago. He talks like my brudder.
As always well said also well explained, Mick your channel is awesome brother. Have my circle loving gunfighter gun oil. Amazing product
Wow! What a channel!! Definetely good! Not just the knowledge that is good, but the way you teach and express everything is pretty clear and even fun. Thank you!!
Enjoyed the video. Great job Lucy!
EXCELLENT GRIP TUTORIAL! The most complete AND accurate info regarding the ultimate power grip; the weak hand NEEDS to wrap as far as possible with the weak hand thumb pressing down and forward.
You’re the epitome of a cool dad that tells dad jokes 😂
WOW Great gun control, looks so natural, perfect body posture, no neck tilting, thanks
Great job Lucy!!
Thanks for the support
first time gun owner here at 41 years old, no one to teach me, long story short, first time at the range, I had the sloppy grip! gun kept having malfunctions due to it to. I got a long way to learn and I love these videos.
Right on. Great video! Your daughter is a great shooter my friend.
This is an excellent video. My edc is a S&W Model#460-1. Recoil control is key to getting proficient with a snubbie.
Proud dad. :)
Good lord I hope nobody ever tries to mess with this guy or his daughter. That is some impressive recoil management from both of them.
Talk about timing!!
Thank you for another great video.
*bows respectfully*
I can't really tell you how much my wife and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge in your videos. They have been a great help.Especially as new shooters. Thank you so much
Excellent video Mickey, it shows proper technique and firearm safety from a expert marksman with his daughter dont get much better then that.
Great video. Earned a sub. Its awesome to see you sharing and teaching your daughter as well. We need much more of that
Thank you friend
My goodness, Lucy shoots very well. Amazing instruction too 👍
LMAO “Uhhhhhh”
“What the problem is?”
New shooter. Great video, very in depth.
I’ve learned so much from watching this guys videos. One of the best on UA-cam
Thanks David
Great instruction, and gun control, I can tell with out you saying that you have pounded many rounds down range and have excellent muzzle control.
Pounded my share
I watched this 3 times in a row...so much great advise to soak in.
I can't wait to apply it.
Born and raised in Joliet.
Been in Virginia for 22 years now.
Thank you much for sharing brother!
God bless you and yours.
TaterScott VA all the way!
@@n.hasters2746 I love it!👍✌️
I like this guy👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Matt
Great video. Very helpful info about tight grip, locking wrist, and tightening elbows to co trol recoil. Thanks
Lucy Wick!!!
I watched your training video the night before I went to my LTC class..
15 at the X
19 at the 10
11 at the 9
3 at the 8
1 at the 7
The last shot was on the sillouette touching the 7 line.. I had to pull one to avoid a perfect score..👍🏿👍🏿.. this stuff works
Very impressive shooting
Great video and absolutely love seeing a Walther get some attention. Absolutely amazing guns for the price and no other striker can compare with the trigger.
My favorite striker fired gun. But it also kicks pretty hard which is why I’m watching this video lol
Excellent Video. Very simple instructions. I learned a lot. Thank You!
I just want to say thank you sharing your knowledge and professionalism on all your videos.
"FML another dad joke, I better laugh or this will take forever..." ****LOOSY GOOSEEY!!!! EH EH EH!!!.... "haha thats funny dad...."
Her faces during the dad jokes lmfao, very informative video
I can't wait to take my daughter and my sons shooting like this! Thanks for the information, great video!
“What the problem is?” 😂😂😂 Lmao. Outstanding. 🤘🏽🇺🇸
I lol’d when I heard that bit 😂
Attempting this on my own tomorrow. Wish me luck! Thanks for the video!!
