Brother,my polictics lean on the same side as yours and I get that reviews are ultimately subjective but then expecting content creators to pick a side for something which is just pulpy might be problematic in the long run for you to be taken as a mostly objective critic.

I disagree with your take on the show. It promotes 'honest impartial journalism' while questioning 'activists masquerading as journalists on the right and the left.' I think that is a noble POV.

Activist masquerading as journalist ? Haha. What do you mean by that, care explain that with any example? Don't go away with making vague remarks. Journalism is not about telling you who dies on street by accident ONLY. In fact that's the reporting of less significance. Journalism is kind of activism that gets many of them jailed under many draconian laws, many of them get killed, beaten up, threatened etc. If you have no passion towards journalism in speaking the truth you are not for this profession. It has been a tool for social change from the times of Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi to P. Sainath. By the way P. Sainath who has dedicated his whole life writing about farmers, is called anti national, leftist, Urban Naxal etc by conservative Bhakts. So don't go and make this about "both sides" There is only one side., the side that cares about the issues of it's citizen, a brave journalism that speaks truth to the power

Also there is no activist on right, they just become part of whatever sells and holds power. Example - RSS during British

@@NileshKumar-nr2vj I appreciate your point. And I consider P Sainath to be a great columnist and a researcher because he stands by the side of the truth at all times. And not just when it suits his political dispensation. He has written against the Congress Government's treatment of farmers (his view on Sharad Pawar and his role as Agri Minister is well documented) as he writes about the BJP Government. To explain my point, let's take 'Crime Against Women' as an example. When the Sandheshkhali News came out, the entire Noida Media landed up in West Bengal, led morchas, raised slogans with the oppressed women and made a huge hue and cry about the incident. As they should have because it is what the media must do; be the voice of the voiceless. However, the same Noida media remains silent when the Revanna Story broke in Karnataka. Why? Because it did not fit their agenda. And that makes me disregard even their good work in Sandheshkhali and slot it as an act of partisan hack running errands for their masters. We need Journalists to stand by the truth at all times regardless of their own political beliefs and biases.

@@somenewbits yes your example is correct. But that's the point I am also making, Sandeshkhali was only reported because it was easy to do , it was against a state that has pretty big opposition party against the people in Central Govt. So that's my point, it's not brave journalism. It's cowardice. Brave would have been if they had covered Prawal Revanna. There is no both sides here, only brave ones or coward ones.
Besides no two cases are same. Media should absolutely cover Sandeshkhali but there was already huge BJP/RSS interest in that case and it was high lighted well. And I appreciate that. One needs more media attention where the justice is been denied or where there is gate keeping, keeping the truth hidden etc. Like in the Hathras case, whole state administration covered the story. Now that requires relentless media attention.
Side note, just yesterday a sting was released and BJP's zonal president was caught on camera saying how Sandeshkhali was orchestrated to demonise Muslims and opposition. Although I didn't read that story take off. And I don't have the fact check on it, but the confession video is real

I don't disagree with you actually. As a matter of fact, I quite agree with you. But what I felt during the show was that it didn't make us empathize with anyone but Amina aka Sonali Bendre. I hated Deebanker's guts and loved it when his wife left without saying a word to him. I constantly bashed Radhika throughout the show. Even by the end, I didn't feel anything about the two, but for whom I felt throughout the show was the voice of justice, Amina Qureshi. I cheered for her when she was out there like a fierce tigress and I cried when she died and I think the character was not given justice. I mean killing her off was the worst writing decision I feel. I wanted to stop watching after that point. It was more like the writers needed a point to bring the two negatives together or bring a happy ending so they conveniently killed her for that.

It was a good review Mr. Mehrotra but as rest of your viewers have amply said that i disagree about your view of not empathizing, actually I believe that this is also a problem of the whole so called current times, this whole obsessive need to look at things in stark blacks and whites, this whole obsessed fundamental need to be opinionated, i give a hoot for this serieses entertainment value, i am talking in larger terms that this is a time to have empathy not throwing it out of the window, but I guess as they say we have to agree to disagree on this one.
