How easy is it to get a Chinese SIM card?

Right now, China Telecom is selling short-term SIM cards that come with minutes and data plans. Foreigners can apply for the cards with their passports. Each passport can have up to five cards. The packages include 7, 15 and 30 days. The phone number will be activated the minute you pick it up and work until midnight the last day. Use the app to top up the card.
Currently, 23 shops in Shanghai offer short-term SIM cards for foreigners. A new China Telecom business office is scheduled to be built at Pudong Airport Terminal 1 in August.
