- This is a more in depth look at how to help rabbits with breathing problems. April, the leader of our shelter group demonstrates with Sterling, a special needs bunny. She gives him his medication, grooms him and gives him a nebulizer treatment.

I am mother of 4 wonderful rabbits, a member of my local rabbit rescue group and have volunteered at shelters to care for rabbits.
My love of rabbits has also inspired me to author a YA series, Chronicles of a Wererabbit about a young girl who is born a bunny and the children's book Mumford Never Gives Up, which is based on a true story about a paralyzed bunny who inspired all of Facebook and his journey to his forever home. I'm thrilled to have worked on this book with artist Yollie Boag.

My bun was prescribed a gentamicin/saline mix for nebulizer.

I'm so sorry about your bunny. What is his name? The bunny in the video is doing well but he still is on medicine and the neubulizer.
My rabbit is a Polish breed that has an average lifespan of 5-6 years, and she is now 7. I noticed yesterday that she has been breathing very hard, her head is always perched up, she is barely eating or moving, and she has lost a lot of weight. I would like to consult her with a vet, but last time we took her her heart rate went extremely fast due to nervousness, and I'm worried something bad could happen due to shock. Could you give me any advice?
I'm sorry to hear your bunny is not well. I would go to the vet. If you can get someone to drive you tha5 way you can hold your bunny (in their carrier) that would help keep your bunny calm. Also keep speaking softly. I even sing to my bunny if I have to drive myself. Keep as calm as you can and that will help your bunny stay calmer. I hope that everything is ok. @@Jacob-hg3dePossibly she had thymoma. A slow growing tumor which grows in the chest cavity. My bunny has it now and she has a tough time breathing.. I had a bunny who passed from it a couple of years ago..Even if your rabbit received treatment it may have given her a month or so because she was a older rabbit who already went passed her lifespan.
