Oh I've already seen this series and it's not a man but a woman that goes back in time. She just somehow is placed in the body of a long dead concubine of the king and also somehow has her smart phone with her. It's mostly historical but with minor modern twist because of her but then aliens happen then it gets weird. Is it worth watching, differs person to person. i thought it was OK but not really that entertaining, so I'm kinda on the fence.

They chose a human and gave him immortality to shape the countries history to their liking but with the woman their with her modern knowledge, she counters and disproves many of the schemes to keep history on track so the human race doesn't get wipe out. Basically the aliens are trying to cause a natural disaster to harness the energy to power their ship and get off planet but the level of disaster would wipe out all life.
