- In this video, I share with you some tips and tricks for SERGING a cloth menstrual pad. The deep inside and outside curves can be tricky for both new and experienced sewists. Hopefully my advice here can help you conquer the dreaded serged curve!

Excellent all-around tutorial on serging curves! The tight camera work and the tip to "ignore the needles, push into the blade" are great. Pads are awesome for low-stakes practice runs on scrap material, too. Off to try several rounds. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for this video. I already have an extensive stash of turned and topstitched pads. However, I am fighting bladder cancer and with the treatments required I should not save the cloth pads beyond the treatment months. I just got a serger, so I can do this.

Working on my first Happy Hippos curvy flare as well! Making the largest size for my impending postpartum. I REALLY hope it turns out well and I think I have my best chance at it because of your help. Did all the cutting and tracing today and will be serging tomorrow. I used some disposable clear cutting board roll I had and it worked like a charm! Such a smart idea. I decided to add an extra absorbent layer to my core so hopefully it turns out well! 😫 even if it doesn’t it will still hopefully be usable.
Only issue hun, pins punctured your waterproof layer. If pining use the pins on the outside of the pattern piece ❤️
A great tutorial although I noticed the pins on the waterproof liner as well, not good for preventing possible leaks. Using your 505 will do the trick of holding in place or a strip of sticky tape will likely get you through.😊
PUL heals itself if you wash and dry on high heat. Just do it once, not all the time. Plus, blood is thicker than water so a pinhole isn't going ro hurt anything.

Oh man, I don't even know anymore! I get them mostly from custom fabric groups on Facebook. I know the stars were from So Cheeky, and I had them hand dyed.

@Rooska is it also possible to serge first windpro and liner together then just sew the serged exposed core over it?
I know it’s 3 years later but in case anyone is wondering… yes it’s possible but it can make the windpro less waterproof as you are adding holes to it.
Do you know how else I can get the patterns? They are not on Etsy. Was there small sizes also. I would like to make these for my grand daughter’s for a first period kit.

Hello! I'm having trouble with a cloth pad I made. The top fabric is coton and it's not a quick absorbent. The trouble is that I made a mistake with the width of the pad and it's slightly tighter close to the wings so I'm having leaks from there. I hope I was clear enough,English is not my native language. What can I do? I thought of sewing an exposed core and sew some snaps and snap it on,hoping that it would absorb as it should. This pad came out really nice and I don't want to throw it away,it has PUL on the outside too.
Other ideas,anyone? Please,help!

How well would these work as postpartum pads?
The first one is villains from Doctor Who, and the one I work on in the video is from Big Hero 6.
For Postpartum, post people tend to prefer using a PUL backer, and usually adding guessets.

I use cotton spandex/lyrcra for the cute fabric and Zorb or heavy bamboo fleece for absorbency. The backing is windpro fleece which can be hard to find/expensive.
505 is your friend. 🤤🤩🥴
A glue stick works if you don’t have 505
Why is your machine so dirty? Can't you just clean it up for the sake of public viewing? Its like being served a fillet mignon in a bussing tray.
