Ernesto Lecuona composed this hugely popular song in 1928. I am performing this piece on the Roland FR-8x v-accordion. All sounds heard in this video are from the 8x only--no external modules or other sound effects are used.
Percussion effects are added to the bass and chords in selected sections of the song. They include different flamenco vocals, castanets, and a tambourine. The acoustic guitar is featured in the treble, bass, and chord sections, sometimes as a solo, and at other times in unison with accordion reeds. Accordion reeds are also heard as a solo instrument as well as with the guitar.
Instead of proceeding to a different User Program, at times I simply press a button on the grill to alternate between acoustic guitar and accordion reeds.

All I can say is WOW! Coming in at age 60 and growing up on the THEN traditional Piano Accordions of the time - The Roland experience could not even have been imagined. Wonderful performance, musicality and use of an incredible instrument! Bravo! :D

Very thoughtful response, as always. It was definitely a challenging piece to do. There are lots of ways the percussion and voices can be utilized, and others will probably make different choices.

Love all your videos. You inspired me to buy an Fr7 a couple years ago. It had been awhile, but the silent practice allowed for my wife's sanity (After an hour she couldn't take anymore, and would ask me to stop when I played acoustic, whats a good husband to do? so i didn't play much). So after twentyfive years I've picked it up again, . Learned indifference song quickly, you inspired me so....thank you Richard Bravisimo

Terrific job Richard. I really liked those voices attached to the chords in the left hand. A little imagination can find good uses for those less conventional sounds. Keep up the good work.
I had the 8X to prep for a demo and had a slow start, but things picked up after understanding how the new user programs and sets work. It took me awhile to realize it's just like my piano. I heard a lot of great comments about you from the attendees at my demo. Maybe I should buy one.....?

For a lot of what I play, I don't think you could tell the 8x from the 7x, but there are some things that the 8x will be able to do better. You would make the percussion come alive. Programming User Programs is enormously time-consuming, at least for me, and I thought I knew these v-accordions very well.
