Literally - "the repetition of the sound of a vowel or diphthong in nonrhyming stressed syllables near enough to each other for the echo to be discernible" This whole song is an exercise in assonance.
His assonance and alliteration are both amazing. He hammers it often with polysyllabic words while throwing out phrases with double meaning. It is damn impressive.
