Thank you Johnny Bench my aunt took me to Cincinnati ball game back in the 70s and I got to see Johnny Bench three home runs during that game what a thrill that was Johnny bench's mom used to come to the store that I work at and do food demos for customers in the store she was a sweet lady and little short I never thought this would be Johnny bench's mom cuz the story was he could Palm 7 Baseballs in his hand thank you Johnny Bench from Binger Oklahoma
I went to school with Johnny Bench’s much younger cousin over 40 years ago back in Montebello, California. I’m even more happier to see Bench’s friendship with my all time favorite on the Boston Red Sox, Carl Yastrzemski, since they both retired in 1983 and later made it to Cooperstown together in 1989. Johnny Bench will always be The Greatest Catcher in Baseball! Coming from a Red Sox Fan.
During the first year I followed baseball, 1970, Johnny Bench was the best player on earth. I was nine, and I spent much of the summer trying to find his baseball card. It came out in the 7th series, which didn't reach our neighborhood until December. When I finally saw his card displayed in a vending machine at local market, I thought I'd found the Holy Grail, and I poured coins into that machine until a card of Johnny popped out. Go Redlegs!
The one time I visited Cincinnati in 1998, I remembered seeing Pete Rose Way which went to Riverfront Stadium. With Riverfront Stadium now torn down, is Pete Rose Way still on the Cincinnati Map? If so, where does Pete Rose Way connect to now?
It is still there. Pete Rose Way connects to Great American Ball Park, which was built next to the old stadium. Pete Rose Way connects to Joe Nuxhall Way. Of course, the Reds Hall of Fame is adjacent to GABP. Both GABP and the Reds HOF are wonderful places.
Thank you Johnny Bench for so much that you did back then and for what you're doing now. You're such a wonderful person and a blessing
