    Which set is your favorite? Spring, summer, fall or winter? Should I follow up with more swatches or color mixing?

      Thanks for your comment! I do love the autumn set! Although I wish they had at least one brighter color like they did with the winter set.

      Ooo the summer palette is so bright and cheery! The inclusion of the white and black will also help you make beautiful pastel and darker/moody colors. So many possibilities. Hope you like it!

      I was pleasantly surprised with the winter set! I love all of the color choices and the gold in that set is my favorite.

    I love this video! The sets are so expensive, but now I have a better idea of what to expect.

      I'm so happy you love this video :) They are expensive.. I'd recommend starting out with the summer set (especially if brighter colors are your vibe) because it already comes with the white and black colors.

    The Irodori line looks so nice. Thanks for including the pigment information. I've realized that most of them are not single-pigment, so I'll go for their gouache line.

    • @AudreyRaDesign

      Thanks for your comment! Yes, it's true that most of the Irodori gouache colors are not single-pigment, so starting with their regular gouache line is a good place to start. I have their set of 12 colors and use that all the time. It depends on what colors you usually like to work with, but I find myself gravitating towards soft greens, pinks, etc. So I found myself constantly mixing up colors to make my colors. I think that's why I ended up getting the Irodori sets because it already had so many of the colors that I would've mixed myself.
      Anyway, that was a long reply to your comment, haha. Either way, I'm glad you're starting your gouache journey!

    Beautiful swatches. I am eyeing the Spring set. But I just wonder, I have the 24 Holbein gouache set... and the lemon yellow G526 in the set is also PY3. I wonder these 2 are the same. I also wonder if the Bellflower is the same as Holbein Lilac gouache since the pigments seem to be the same (maybe different proportions).

    Why did you choose hot press paper for the Irodori gouache? Thank you for all your tutorials.

    • @AudreyRaDesign
      @AudreyRaDesign  Рік тому +3

      What a great question! I decided to use hot press for the swatches because 1) I plan on using this paper exclusively for gouache and 2) hot press is smoother surface so it’s better for when the gouache paint consistency is a little thicker. It lays on better whereas cold press has a texture and sometimes I can see it or it takes a few strokes to cover it up.
      This paper is from Fabriano and it’s also 25% cotton. I’m not too picky about cotton vs not but i got it at a huge discount so I grabbed 2 packs :)
      Hope that helps!

    Kinda ironic the white isn't in the Winter palette...? 😅

    • @AudreyRaDesign
      @AudreyRaDesign  8 місяців тому

      haha, so true! I still don't think white should be part of any of the sets because most gouache artists have their own giant white tube. But I'm sure there's a reason for it being included in the summer! I think it was because of the ease of turning the bright colors into pastel if you want.🤷🏻‍♀️

      @@AudreyRaDesign I think the intent was that the summer set was more of a traditional mixing set thus why it came with the white and the black.
