It's not a noob question at all... I was baffled by it before I knew what this was all about... When you buy the Protomen CD, it comes with a little booklet with the lyrics in it. The lyrics in the book are intertwined with little bits of the story representing actions at the time that are not dialogue, so songs with no lyrics still have a 'script' to them, so to speak. There isn't a version of the song where those actions are actually 'sung', it's just what's going on during the song.
Excuse me... I found lyrics for "Funeral of a son", but I can't find the song with it. It's obviously this song... Can anyone explain please why there is no lyrics? (I bet this is a totaly noob question, isn't it...?)
Track 2, Funeral for a Son, is an instrumental piece representing Dr. Light's sorrow over Proto Man's death, his anger at the people for doing nothing to protect themselves from Wily's forces, and his eventual creation of Mega Man
Hmmm... I must ask (and I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question): which is the song that describes Dr. Light building Mega Man with his own hands in a fit of sorrow and anger? I could've sworn it was this one, and yet it isn't. Can anyone help me out?
...I will make sure this is playing at my own funeral. And in the program for the event, it will say "If you are wondering, the song is Funeral for a Son - By the Protomen. Do not forget." Ahh...Never forget.
If you put some thought into it, it could be a possibility that this DOES come first chronologically. Of course, it doesn't - if you look at the CD, you'll know that. But, think of it this way... Funeral for a Son occurs. Then we go to Unrest in the House of Light. In the midst of all that, he tells Megaman of the events in Hope Rides Alone, then continues on. Get it?
Is it just me or is the trumpet bit from about 1:17 - 1:32 kind of like the Protoman-esque whistle that starts of Unrest in the House of Light and the trumpet after the line "My father's battle will be won!" in The Good Doctor (from Act II)? I love how the Protomen carry lyrics and music over into multiple songs as a literary/musical device. (For example the "Ready, willing, prepared to fight" in Hope Rides Alone and the "I'm ready, I'm willing I'm prepared to fight" in Vengeance)
I just imagine light taking his helmet and shield and burying the helmet and using the shield to carve hope rides alooooooone on a rock and buildin mega man's ov
@alfonzelrick No, Dr. Light builds megaman during hte narrative of FUneral for a Son. It makes more sense this way, beceause it is a funeral song, and Dr' Light's creation of megaman was fueled by his Grief.
This song is absolutely beautiful. If anyone's played the game "Phantom Dust", this is my music for the broken Highway level. Nothing could be a better fit.
@thejobloshow Keiji Inafune is sort of like the Protomen's interpretation of Proto Man (and later Mega Man). He was their hero, but left them out of disdain for the lack of courage and the complacency he saw in the Japanese video game industry.
@Shadowelecman Yeah I just ordered them today. I didn't want to buy the digital versions and not get the album inserts. The first CD just came back in stock today, so I ordered both. I wasn't really interested in that 8-bit remix CD though.
@alfonzelrick Actually, that's him building Protoman. The descriptions in the lyric book say this song's when he created Megaman out of his sorrow and anger by sheer accident.
@NekoKohaku Hey, that's neat! I gotta check out more operas! (or at least rock operas - although maybe traditional operas are more enjoyable than they're stereotyped to be...)
@rockmandude4 Yeah, the Protomen use that phrase in more than one of their songs. Also, the main pipe theme is incorporated into a majority of the songs on this album
@@larrychilders6599 yeah, it was great to ser Mega Man 11, but it was extremely safe. Same plot as MM1, even the Yellow Devil, no Proto Man, no Bass... The Double Gear system is cool but man the game was really safe compared to REmake 2 or DMCV.
@HalcyonCross First, it was Proto Man he was building in the song in question. Second, the title of the song is Hope Rides Alone. Mega Man didn't show up until Unrest In The House Of Light, and his personal song The Will Of One.

Very true.
someone send an album to Keiji Inafune.
He would give these guys medals, and Protoman's entrance tune

This is one of the most amazing things I've ever listened to in my life. Just incredible.
Track 2, Funeral for a Son, is an instrumental piece representing Dr. Light's sorrow over Proto Man's death, his anger at the people for doing nothing to protect themselves from Wily's forces, and his eventual creation of Mega Man
i'm feel sad as hell. I can imagine the casket of the broken, and dismantled ProtoMan...
completely unironically planning on having this played at my funeral. it's an excellent piece, conveying so many emotions at once...

poor proto man r.i.p here lives proto man.

What- the latest comment was two years ago?!
No lyrics are needed critics: The music speaks for itself.
1:16 The birth of Mega Man...
(I could be wrong, but you know... still an awesome song)
@alfonzelrick No, Dr. Light builds megaman during hte narrative of FUneral for a Son.

@Twister980 You mean Protoman's funeral occured before Protoman dies in Hope Rides Alone? :P
This song is absolutely beautiful. If anyone's played the game "Phantom Dust", this is my music for the broken Highway level. Nothing could be a better fit.
Don't hate Capcom. Pity them. Pity what they've become. So long Man of Mega, ;_;
Awesome song, Awesome band.
There isn't one. The first song to mention Megaman is Unrest in the House of Light. The period where Megaman is built originally isn't shown.
@thejobloshow Keiji Inafune is sort of like the Protomen's interpretation of Proto Man (and later Mega Man). He was their hero, but left them out of disdain for the lack of courage and the complacency he saw in the Japanese video game industry.
Actually, Chronologically this is the first song. Maybe.
on their CD, they have their songs listed as acts in a Rock Opera, this is the second, so maybe it is second?
why is it only this song takes any ammount of time to load
The drum beat is the nearly the same as "Am I Evil".
0:15 isn't that same drum beat used in the stand(man or machine)?
This song is going to be played at my funeral.
That sounds like either Hope Rides Alone, or Unrest in the House of Light.
This song will play at Mega Man's funeral the day the abomination of Satan that is Rockman Xover is unleashed.
8 years ago. What a time, well now we have mega man 11.
@Shadowelecman

Im walking in the march of the Protoman's Funeral....
@thejobloshow completely agreed T-T not only did they kill megaman, but they ALWAYS preferred ryu to megaman...
@rockmandude4 Yeah, the Protomen use that phrase in more than one of their songs. Also, the main pipe theme is incorporated into a majority of the songs on this album
@HalcyonCross Not lyrics, but this is what it is referencing.
Just google: funeral for a son lyricwiki
Can anyone tell me how to buy their CDs? I only see how to buy the album digitally.
@alfonzelrick Actually, Hope Rides Alone is about PROTO Man, not Mega Man. Just saying.
@HalcyonCross you got the wrong info you are looking for Unrest In The House Of Light
@alfonzelrick Dr. Light built Protoman in the first song, not Megaman.
@alfonzelrick the first song was about building protoman not mega man
well then you could just keep it to yourself
maybe just an option
epic.........................just epic
Reminds me of Jadusable. BEN drowned.
Don't worry, ProTOHman will be back.
en ares no me aparece esa cancion :/
There is one by The Megas.
Oh, thank you both!
Goodnight, sweet prince. We were never meant to be.
*flips finger at Capcom*
I am from the future and I will tell you they are caring for him, we're on the 11th game of the classic series
The commander is my cousin
Care not.
Hope glitches alone. ;_;7
@HalcyonCross
First, it was Proto Man he was building in the song in question.
Second, the title of the song is Hope Rides Alone.
Mega Man didn't show up until Unrest In The House Of Light, and his personal song The Will Of One.
