I think I'd have preferred Painkiller's series over this. But then again if his series had gone ahead I wouldn't have minded a crossover with this and then her meeting Thunder, Lightning and Wylde. But of course the CW doesn't know how to do shows without shitting on male heroes to prop up the female ones so....

I understand all the CW hesitation but the fact that it's an Ava DuVernay project had me on board from day one knowing absolutely nothing about the Naomi comic. Now if it was a Berlanti production like the others I'd be worried cuz each show, even the ones I like, the writers have proven themselves unable create and maintain quality stories or character development which has me concerned for the future of Superman and Lois. But I digress...I have no such concerns with Naomi regardless of the network it'll be on.

Sorry to say but its not like either of them...the plot is very close to the actual comic but the the acting is awful..i don't think a single person in it has any idea how to act and none of the characters including Naomi felt real in any way

Doesn't really matter if Naomi's in the arrowverse or in her own separate universe like Stargirl considering the character comes from another universe outside of the main continuity and regardless can still crossover anyway.
@@AlmxghtyDrew "Probably won't happen again" seriously? viewers already know that the multiverse exists given all the shows and films that take place in separate universes. If anything it's only a matter of time until it happens again and some DC character(s) rediscovers the multiverse. In fact that has already happened in S&L season 1 and the upcoming Flash film is built around that exact premise of rediscovering the multiverse.
As for Naomi her origin story is literally her biological parents sent her from their ravaged universe to another one.
Idk how far CW and DC Comics wanna continue the super hero trend, because there are always risks tied to these shows. But i'm very willing to see this one

So....is this a CW made or HBOMAX assisted...... I feel like this determines if the show is worth watching or not now and it's sad. lol. From the look of this it seems CW made. (Cause any show with a black main character needs hip hop music) Big hint right there.

Superman and Lois and Stargirl are both fully CW shows.( You can check actual episodes credits for this or even the Wikipedia pages , there is no mention of HBO producing the shows anywhere - it's a rumor that got out of hand because people can't believe CW can make good superhero shows lol)
HBO Max isn't listed as a producer in any of both shows episodes and there isn't any tangeable evidence of that rumor.

I just clicked cuz I saw Ava. I know it has a lot to do with makeup but she still looks hot at almost 50, just saying.
Hmm idk. This trailer didnt really do anything for me as far as get me excited, the show does seem like itll be good though. The success of this show will be determined by the writers, and since this is a CW show eh I wouldnt get to excited. The show will fail if that try to tackle real world issues on a daily basis. If they stick with the "Superhero" theme and sprinkle in real world issues every now and then, they should be good.
The most exciting part of the show is Ava Duvernay is a new voice to the CW and she's the boss as the executive producer.
She has talked real world issues her other show Queen Sugar and has done a good job with it.
So I think this show will be the same in that regard.
The issue with CW is their best shows tend to be the ones that sometimes bring new voices to the network.
@@joshuarobertson8866 The problem with that is Queen Sugar is a drama series it's not a supernatural show, so real world issues work for that type of show. I promise you if this show deals with real world issues every episode, it won't last more than maybe 2 seasons. You watch a superhero show to get away from real world issues.

This is because black characters in general are relatively new, and black female even newer, it takes a long time for a super hero to be popular but we do have black men and women superheroes that would be very popular if someone was bold enough to put them out there like they did for black panther or miles (Spider-Man) or falcon, such as static shock, storm, luke cage, spawn, blade, vixen, bumblebee, icon, batwing, cyborg, hawk girl, rocket, and val zod to name a few i think could really shine and are original and not reskinned white heroes

Like most backstories that earth went to shit and her parents threw their baby through a portal to the Earth 1 so she won’t be part of the war that’s raging. As the trailer shows she has no idea about her lineage till her powers start to awake. With her powers awakening it alerts the other powerful people from her home world and they come after her. Her comic book superhero name is Powerhouse.

So, they cancel Black Lighting don't pick up Pain Killer and give us this. Why can't young Black boys have positive superhero role models to look up to? The CW will fill this show with politics and skip out on good story & character arcs. They do it with every show that's why when they didn't pick up Pain Killer, I stopped picking up the remote to turn to their channel.

I hope it's good, but I hope it also follows established cinematic rules. I want to see scifi, not a rap concert, not Barry Gordy's Naomi. Most rap music is not appropriate for background music. It's GREAT for establishing shots, etc, but incidental music is a SCIENCE. When things get scary, play scary music. There were SO MANY scenes in Black Lighting where I couldn't hear a soft conversation because of rap music in the background. Black cinema sold follow the same riles as general cinema. Give us the same cinematic experience. Just change the characters. That guy yell-rapping over the trailer makes me feel the same way I felt about House of 1000 Corpses. Heavy metal is ALSO inappropriate background music. I couldn't finish the movie.

Having read Naomi's comic I think they are keeping certain good story threads from it the same.
She is a multiverse character which I still expect to be the case in this.
And her main villain is from a alternate version of the earth.
There is a lot they can do with that.
The biggest adjustment is having her main villain already on earth , waiting for her powers to awaken.
In the comics he is able to find her earth when she awakens ( having him waiting around makes more sense from a tv shows perspective)
I think if it's played well it could definitely set itself up for a very interesting story that isn't similar to the other CW shows on a epic scale.
I think most of these shots in the trailer are from the pilot episode they shot a while ago before they started filming season 1 of the show.
The show is also a show with a teen superhero so it's most likely like Stargirl a family friendly show that can be targeted at teens and older viewers.
Choreography looks trash. Looks like a cool concept tho that'll probably get thrown out the window after season 2

no they didn't. zero proof stating the CW "chose" one over the other. these projects were all in the works simultaneously in differing stages of (pre-)production. it just so happened that some didn't go through and naomi did.

That was a while ago before the pandemic.
