Large Permanente Local 6-3-15

The 'Perm' was larger than usual today and worth a chase. I stuck around to watch some of the operations. Plenty of wind and dust made for some interesting shots. In the last clip, the crew looks like it stopped to chat with someone at the crossing....

Used to live near the cement plant. As a kid in the 80's I would always watch the trains come up to the plant. It was Southern Pacific back then with the caboose. I'm glad I took photos back then.

Sadly the plant closed down now
So there's not longer trains running to the plant

I still remember back in the late 1990's the Permanente Local was a shorter train pulled by four ex-SP GP40-2's....

Model Trains and Railfanning usually comes through on Tuesday and Thursdays. Anytime in the morning to afternoon
