The song goes perfectly with this. Gina and Ricky were close friends and while they were friends, he still liked Nini. Then when Gina left he started dating Nini and that makes him a traitor, like in the song.
The song is about the girl’s boyfriend talking to another girl while they were still together and getting with the other girl the second they broke up. Ricky and Gina were never together. He was still in love with Nini. He finally told her he loved her and they got together. He didn’t do anything behind Gina’s back. Gina likes him, he loves Nini. Idk how their story is anything like the song...
WHAT THE HECK THIS IS SOOOO GOOD! I love Ricky and Gina, and I feel like Ricky and Gina always understood each other since they were considered different compared to the other theatre kids. And Ricky always seemed more comfortable AND happier around Gina when they became friends. (Spoiler alert!) In the third episode of season 2, Gina even told ricky that she could tell him things she has never told anyone before. gina hasn't even told ashlyn, who has become her best friend this season about how she felt about her mom forgetting to give her something for valentine's day. I just hope their endgame by the end of the show :)
Rina Hits different like their bond is so strong and they understand each other on a deeper level.. Rina deserves their angsty slowburn

I’m not foolish enough to think they’ll be endgame because although I love this series (it’s predictable and cliche and both Nini and Ricky are the leads so they have to end up together). Originally I disliked this pairing because of Ginas attitude but after her character got the development that was needed I thought her and Ricky were a much better match and here is why: Ricky loves Nini, and there is no formula or exact way to identify what loving is but for how much he loves her I find it confusing how he’s never so open to her about his feelings. And when he attempts to it feels like it’s drowned out. Maybe it’s because Gina is going through a similar situation but between the two of them they helped each other through some of their harsher times. She, always goes out of her way for him, she always hears him out and he did too. He worries about her endlessly and when they’re together you feel a certain closeness that you don’t with Nini and Ricky. They are childhood friends so of course they’ll joke around more, but maybe it’s because of that, that it feels so childish. When Ricky and Gina have a scene together you feel for them both because they both lay their hearts out to the other, it feels more mature and closer than the way Nini and Ricky interact. I’d like to see them fall in love, I feel like it’d be intense and interesting to watch. I know it won’t happen and that this rant is hopeless but I’d like to see where this goes.
He does not worry about her endlessly lmao. He’s completely clueless about her feelings for him and is constantly bringing Nini up (I don’t blame him, Nini is his gf) in front of her. In season 1, Ricky confided in Nini about his parents divorce. Gina opens up to Ricky a hell of a lot more than he opens up to her. The only reason Ricky couldn’t say “I love you” is bc of the confusion from his parents separation. At the end of s1 he was VERY open about his feelings. Season 2, he told Nini that he missed her and wanted her to be w him all the time. I can’t think of a way for him to be any more open than that...
To be fair...Technically the leads are Josh, Olivia, Sofia, and Matt. Everyone else is a supporting character or a "guest star". So Disney could actually have Ricky and Gina get together and they'd still have the leads be in a relationship.
@@user-lh2fu4nn7o Ricky hates change, so at this point it isn't him being in love with Nini, it's not wanting to accept growth and change that some people aren't meant to be together. That's why after Gina left he ran back to Nini. Gina was helping him adapt to change and he was finally accepting it and moving on, but then she left which hit him hard. Now he feels that if he gets used to change something is going to happen that'll ruin it. He loves her, but he is not IN love with her if you get what I'm saying.
@@loftylang3295 I’m not gonna deny that he definitely has feelings for Gina, but I think he’s still in love with Nini. Like if u watch the first few episodes of s2, that boy is IN love. But I get what ur saying. Ricky and Nini haven’t rlly been in synch for the latest episodes and he definitely is afraid of change which is why he’s holding onto their relationship so tightly. But I wouldn’t go as far as to say he isn’t in love w Nini.
