At 5:58. Why doesn’t anyone remember its was the Chinese fishing fleet that stripped the waters off of Somalia of fish. Then there were no jobs. Warlords then created new work. China is ruining the worlds fish spots.

I despised Somali pirates until I discovered the background. Close in fisheries have been emptied by foreign fishermen, particularly Chinese and Indian. The failed government of Somalia offered no relief and calls for international help fell on deaf ears. So these abjectly poor mostly Somalians who for ages have provided for their families by fishing, suddenly had no means to feed their families. This was a situation that they had not caused. Thus pirates…. The international world still refuses to actually help them. What would you do?
Iceland screwed with the UK deep-water fishing fleet fifty years ago. The British have not taken to piracy . . .
