Tsukasa always was a good person at heart. The only problem was that corrupt and heartless people like his and Mirai's deadbeat drunk of a father made him believe that people were incapable of change and needed to be expunged. I knew there was more to him than just being a vengeful muscle head, but I didn't know he suffered for that long.
For Tsukasa there was always hope that she might wake up someday. He ferociously fought to hold on to that piece of hope. When he woke up from the petrification that hope was gone. Prior to the petrification, when we were shown Mirai and Tsukasa as children, Mirai was declared brain dead and in a coma. Your body stops growing normally when you’re in a perpetual sleep. Tsukasa, on the other hand, trained like hell during those years leading up to the petrification just so he can gain money and provide Mirai with better medical care. You should probably rewatch that episode. Mirai was 6 years old when she was shown to be in a coma while Tsukasa was 11 at the time. Fast forward 6-7 years, Tsukasa’s a strong fighter and reached the age of 17-18 while Mirai is technically 12-13. And then the petrification happened. Mirai stayed 12-13 and Tsukasa same case.
