I get chills hearing this song, I love it and the association it has to the movie, which is far and away my all time favourite. I actually like that no one I talk to has seen it... I feel like it's my little secret. I watch it several times every winter and every time I'm so grateful that I found it when I was in my early twenties :-)
I’ve found that when I tell friends about this movie, they’re resistant because they think it sounds boring. But when they watch it, they’re blown away. Every last one. One guy I told him about it years ago and he only recently watched it on Netflix. He texted me and said you have to watch this, it’s amazing. I love discovering these lost gems. I could only laugh!!
Just watched again the other night. One of my all-time faves. And yes, everybody seems to think it will be boring based on the trailer or the description of the plot… So it’s been hard for me to get people to commit to checking it out. I love it so much I’d probably watch it once a month… but best during the snow season :-)
I wish there were more movies like this coming out. Bittersweet stories about people who grew up together but whose lives have grown apart over the years
Couldn’t tell you the first time I saw this movie, I was too young to remember. It was my uncle’s absolute favorite, he’s been gone 15 years now. It’s now my favorite, and I’m glad I can share that with him.
I worked at a music store when this soundtrack came out. It played all day and never got old. Those were the times and people who would constitute the soon-to-be-called good ole' days. And the coolest thing is I knew it at the time, making me be extremely present and lucid every moment. In spite of the wide array of chemicals that we always had in the mix. Or maybe because of them.
I was about 27 when I first saw this movie around it's release. I always think of my good friend Steve whenvever I watch this movie. We would watch this movie on VHS over and over again. Knew all of the lines. "...Does that make it too late or too early?" Great writing and amazing soundtrack here. First fell in love with Natalie Portman from this movie and felt like Willy C because it was wrong to look at her that way! lol "Later Pooh"...
They melody of the guitar slide is played at varying speeds/instruments in the movie love it. The movie is like a song of a time; it takes you back to that time when you got hooked on it and every now and then you need a dose. The whole soundtrack is perfect matching the time & feel of the movie.
Supermodels are beautiful girls, Will. A beautiful girl can make you dizzy, like you've been drinking Jack and Coke all morning. She can make you feel high full of the single greatest commodity known to man - promise. Promise of a better day. Promise of a greater hope. Promise of a new tomorrow. This particular aura can be found in the gait of a beautiful girl. In her smile, in her soul, the way she makes every rotten little thing about life seem like it's going to be okay. The supermodels, Willy? That's all they are. Bottled promise. Scenes from a brand new day. Hope dancing in stiletto heels...A beautiful girl is all-powerful and that's as good as love. That's as good as love... 😀
Иногда умники говорят, что нельзя судит о жизни по кинематографу. Но, чёрт побери, в этом фильме столько совпадений с моей жизнью, что у меня нет другого выбора, кроме как считать его гениальным
First time I saw this movie, was a great moment and right time for me, being stuck in bed for months. Had time enough to reconsider everything... Movie have a special meaning to me, and till now in my surrounding I couldn't find like-minded people who will share my enthusiasm for movie like this one... So I been trying to find online 'October road' serial which Scott Rosenberg written same as Beautiful girls, story is so similar. Greetings from Montenegro.
A very talented dude wrote this flick. His name is Scott Rosenberg. Fucking brilliant. He also wrote another hidden gem called "Things To Do in Denver When You're Dead". If you haven't seen it, check that bad boy out. It's wicked and highly quotable, just like"Beautiful Girls". Can't wait for both those movies to finally hit Blu-ray! Oh, yeah, I also LOVE the soundtrack! "Suffering" by Satchel is my favourite. Painfully beautiful...
Still not sure why I love this movie so much. It seems it touches just a small group like us… Soundtrack is awesome and only "Into the wild" is as good. The dialogues and all the characters are very real and have a sweetness that is really cool and not found in other movies. It's 2020 and since we are all in quarantine I'll just watch it for the 1K time.
I really enjoyed that movie so much. It just sticks with you. This song couldn’t have been more perfectly suited for the movie. It definitely has the best soundtrack.
I saw them open for Tom Petty on the Wildflowers tour. I thought they out on a great show, but the crowd was surprisingly hostile for some reason, until he mentioned the drummer was from the town the concert was in. The crowd was still hostle after that, but just a little less🤣. When he closed with "If You Don't Love Me," the crowd was back on his side.
I take the same trip through the city to the bus station and back home like Willie does at the start of the flick. Can’t help but hear this in my head when I do.
In my opinion, probably the very best performance from Natalie Portman (and I'm including The Professional); she was incredibly nuanced in displaying an early teen's emotions in combination with a kid's mannerisms, even if she was "an old soul" : )
Ahhh yes a secret! I love it -I hear it - I play it when I'm putting on my make up...not to myself it just kinda "sets the day" ..rock it, tell a story..I could only be so lucky.
Same here... a nice winter habbit... Late twenties in my case... When I watched it for the first time, I felt a bit stranded, I guess... I was just a few months from meeting my future wife!
One of my favorite movies of all times. ❤ Watched it for the first time when I was about 20, I am 45 now and I see myself in some of the characters
Being a new englander I love this movie. First snow of the winter happening right now. Always makes me think of this gem. Stay cool forever.

Rik Elderton Agreed. It amazes me how many people haven't seen this movie. It slipped under the radar.
Wow... Totally took the words right out of my mouth!
+1 Rik Elderton. Perfectly Said.
I do the same thing...its always in the Winter...(matches the Season in the movie itself, huh...). :)
👍🤘
I feel the same!! I had just moved to NYC from a tiny town when this came out in 1996; it resonates beautifully.
A very underrated gem, with a song that perfectly fits. :)
We all feel the same about this film and song. I'm glad I'm not alone. We are in a private club it seems.
+1 Agreed. :)
And its SUCH a Cool Club too that we who love this Movie & Song belong too...I'm very happy with my membership... :)
hell , looks like we are ;)

P.S. I actually saw this in the movie theater when it came out & loved it then :-)
"Stay cool, stay cool forever."
nothing changes round here but the seasons!
I find myself watching this movie every year around the same time. one of my all time favs.
Yup. A bunch of us get together and watch it together and drink bourbon on a winter's night each year. It's a great tradition.
Same guys. 8 years going. It really creases me when people don't get it. Especially my wife!
One of the best movies of all time. A memory from the times when many things were sincere..
I wish there were more movies like this coming out. Bittersweet stories about people who grew up together but whose lives have grown apart over the years
I tried but I could not find any other movie like this. Truly one of a kind!
St. Elmo’s Fire and The Big Chill come to mind.
Glad this is still up. Like a brown rock, this movie is forever in my heart
Couldn’t tell you the first time I saw this movie, I was too young to remember. It was my uncle’s absolute favorite, he’s been gone 15 years now. It’s now my favorite, and I’m glad I can share that with him.
agreed, this movie is one of the most under-rated and the soundtrack is brilliant, must've seen it over a 100 times, movie to watch in winter
Oh, man this is where it's at. The movie makes me want to settle down in a Northern town somewhere with all my old friends.
This song resonates with so many of my 1965 upbringing memories!! The cast in this flick was beyond!! Stay cool! Stay cool forever❤😂😂😂❤️💯🫶🙏🏼👍🏼💃🙌
I don't know why, but I absolutely have to watch it every year at Christmas.

Damn man...good times. Bring back the 90s. Great movie such a classic.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Love everything about it, especially the music.
One of my most favorite movies ever!! Just adore the characters in this movie!💗
I love this movie, it gives you a great sense of reality, like it's you and your high-school buddies.
Great song from a great movie... one of the best...20 years ago! Watched it so many times...

Great Movie. This movie has a special meaning to everyone who has had the late 20's dilemna.
They melody of the guitar slide is played at varying speeds/instruments in the movie love it. The movie is like a song of a time; it takes you back to that time when you got hooked on it and every now and then you need a dose. The whole soundtrack is perfect matching the time & feel of the movie.
Love this song. Great movie. It’s a shame the band never has gotten the recognition for their music as a whole.

Amazing movie all round! Feels so cozy and feels like home. I watch it all the time. Love it so much :-)
One of the 10 best movies of the 90s.
And the soundtrack (put together by Greg Dulli) is amazing as well.
Just watched this movie again, probably my favorite move of all time. Ever. OF ALL TIME.
A very talented dude wrote this flick. His name is Scott Rosenberg. Fucking brilliant. He also wrote another hidden gem called "Things To Do in Denver When You're Dead". Excellent film❤
I love this song and movie so much. He kind of sounds like Tom Petty.

@TheFoodTour Thank you !
RIK I agree. Love this song.
grat movie beautiful girls.
Reminds me of my childhood.
This song sounds very much like "6th Avenue Heartache" by The Wallflowers!!!!
This song sounds way different then the wildflowers song.
Who are the wildflowers??? You must be tone deaf...
@@dylantrumbla3487 it's definitely reminiscing of 6th avenue heartache
