We need more weird and wacky ships. Like HMS Furious in 1918 that was a hybrid carrier armed with one 457 mm gun or HMS M1 a submarine armed with one 305 mm gun.
Except it is a Des Moines gun, that's the whole point. They took the 8"/55 Mark 16 found in the Des Moines and put it in a new turret, which they called the Mark 71. But the gun itself is completely identical to that found on the DM and the performance is similar as a result, although the Mark 71 obvious has better elevation and a bit faster loading.
1:23 the program was dropped bc during live fire trials, the ship was observed to torque around the gun, and post trial dockings found that the gun had caused an excessive amount of fatigue to the structure of the ship, ie the gun almost ripped its barbette out of the ship due to the recoil. also of fun fact, this is now the youngest ship in the game
we all know this ship will be released for cash, just like everything else as of late. then at some point in a year or three it will be for some resource, dubs if its OP, steel if only a little OP, RB points if its average, and coal if it's just meh.....
I got F.Sherman direct after she was released , I have played 1 battle I lost , I did not like it never play it again , I excange him for Karl , I have bought him back , but for me is just one of 93 T10 own ... I will grab Hull if will be for coal or RP quickly , but for steel , next is Svea , then FDR , Z-42 , Austin , Komissar , so I guess June ... 2027 , of course if WG wont add something better for steel.
Great review of a unique ship. Does feel like one that a lot of people won't understand, not while playing it, but your teammates, because it is going to be rather difficult to get caps. No smoke, no hydro, no radar, no speed, and not great concealment makes capping and hunting other DD's a big challenge. Shame, as the ship gun gimmick could have been interesting.

I’ve been hoping for furious in her original configuration of two 457s as maybe a T6 premium bb with elbing dispersion.
@@thatkancolleguy Furious was a "Cruiser". The most heavily armed "Light Cruiser". Good ol' Jackie Fisher. 🤣🤣
Historically yes but there’s no way in hell to balance a ship with 457s and the same armor as an Omaha as a cruiser.
lets add the japanese i-400
a hybrid submarine/carrier :p
@@TOFMDrone Oh hell yeah.
That is not a Des Moines guns, that is 8"/55 caliber Mark 71 gun or Major Caliber Lightweight Gun (MCLWG) accordingly. Tested this ship back in 1975.
Exactly. The Des Moines gun could only elevate 40 degrees while the MK 71 could go all the way to 70 degrees making it capable as an AA gun.
Same size guns as all heavy cruisers.

thank you for the facts!

Will the larger turret become a damage magnet? Fewer over pens on this did as a result?
gun accuracy isnt high enough in this game to really aim for a turret often. most people are aiming waterline or super structure
@@HerbaceousM8 that doesnt answer the question in any way, nice dodge.

Bro that thing flips over when shooting
Consider my shock to see this as my father served aboard USS Hull while they were testing this set up! 🫡

Never thought Sherman will get power creep so early
No smoke will limit the players. The ability for smoke abuse that any moron can do is not th🎉 same as playing elbing.
8 inch punisher
Hull is a nasty city in the UK. 'ull!
Is the concealment the same as Sherman or not? With the 4 point skill
yes should be same
203 with base 2.6 sec reload.... uh ouch...
You know they gonna nerf that.
wargaming is such a joke, F2P model ruins everything it touches.
