Holy shit! I thought I was the odd ball out being my grandmother got me into fishing!
I remember those old scales. They never seemed to work well, always binding up. I did something similar a few years ago, but instead of raiding someone else's tackle, I was raiding my own. Some of the stuff in there I've had since my teens (I'm 40 now), a lot of it I'd totally forgotten about.
I have some of my grandfather’s fishing tackle mixed in with stuff I got as a kid about 40 - 50 years ago and many of the same crank baits, spinners, several sizes of Flatfish, Heddon Sonic, Classic Wet flies like “Trout Fin” “Royal Coachman” and “Guinea Hen”, leader keepers, split shot and sinkers galore and the coup de grace of the match up… Langley Fisherman’s DE - LIAR scale and tape measure!! (Model 228 - because it weighed in kg’s and lbs up to 12Kg - 28LBS). Good Stuff! Keep the good times rollin…

I use a syringe to blow up the worm. It's easier and less messy to stick the worm. The smaller entry hole keeps the air from bubbing out. It's also easier to stick yourself, so be careful!😅 I enjoyed seeing all the different lures.
An insulin syringe is ideal for inflating worms. The tiny gauge needles are perfect. BUT, EXTREME concentration and caution ⚠️ required or as mentioned you are going to get pierced with a very dirty hypodermic needle.

This was so fun, I’m 55 and bass fish in a state where everyone trout and salmon fishes (Washington), so my tackle bag gets this kind of fun for my kids to look through as well. 🤘
Idk about any of you but I do really good on the gulp minnows either on a jig head, drop shot, or splitshot rig. I crush smallies, walleye, and rainbow trout in lakes on them! I HATE how they dry out though so I started using the Live Target drop shot minnows and they are amazing! A bit pricey though
I have some of my dad's old stuff including several mepps, 0-2 mostly. Not sure where I got them, but I have a whole display pack of Eerie Dearie that I'm never gonna use.
My snell holder finally broke as did my Water Gremlin slipshot sinker puck (if you know, you know). Both were mine from my (much) younger days fishing with my dad.

this is awesome ~ i peeped my pop's tacklebox too and smh... bunch of random stuff and a whole buttload of Helicopter Lures! needless to say...he never caught a fish before lolol

Hahahahha before I started getting my own stuff i would use my stepdads stuff and he would get sooooo mad if i lost a lure cause of a snag or whatnot 😂 he would also usually get a few casts in before me or one of my brothers would have a problem with our rods and he would have to fix them 😂 but now ive taken up his mantle in fishing

You keep calling him the "old man" he doesn't look older than me. Yes, my Grandmother got me into fishing. She fished for carp and Buffalo. She cleaned what she caught and that was Sunday dinner. Kudos to all the Grandmother's out there that get their grandkids into fishing. Which is what I intend on doing with my grandson!

Gotta say, that heavy current deep water fishing your dad's into is a whole nother ball of wax to get into. Some weird and wild rigs that I've never seen before. Why he has enough tools to do a complete engine swap and more knives than a butcher I do not know 😂😂😂😂
