      I cant remember if I left it in the cheap intercooler pipe review I did, but when i filmed it I had said the factory Ford pipe is really good all in all. • @six0bros
      @six0bros 3 роки тому +2

      You shouldn't need any tuning. Factory tuning actually turned that off most 6.0s do not have it. It was originally used as a way to limit cold fresh air and instead help with egr flow. I believe mostly for idle and warm up conditions but again it was disabled with factory programming I am not sure why

    Why did you go with no limit with all the other choices out there ?

    • @six0bros
      @six0bros 5 років тому

      My main reason was I like the design of the pipe in that the boot isn't located right at the top but rather down lower on a straighter section of pipe. Also they have an excellent reputation. It was also another chance to try a product u have no experience with. Part of my goal is to be able to report back to others what companies have good products. I love my mbrp hot side pipe but didn't care for how their intake elbow looked. Obviously there is only so much that can be done with the area for the intercooler pipe but the no limit kit seems to definitely try to improve the air flow path. In my honest opinion this provides very little improvement over the factory pipes. However I believe there is a slight improvement nonetheless. Josh has been very happy with his mishimoto kit as well. I considered the banks kit for the larger diameter pipe but I feel their intake elbow could cause some turbulence in the airflow path. However I have no data to back that up it is simply a hypothesis. The only other kit I can say I really looked at was the cfm largemouth kit. Seems to be a nice piece you get the bigger pipe without the odd shaped intake elbow, and it also has a very smooth airflow path to the intake manifold. I will probably buy that kit in the future for my next 6.0

    • @six0bros
      @six0bros 4 роки тому +1

      I have talked to fab shops and the ones around here want at least 600 a pipe. that isn't boots and clamps. I mean i do hear you it is probably only like $60 in metal to make them.

  • @meghandoyle692
    @meghandoyle692 2 роки тому +1

    I don't like that setup. The boots give the pipes flex when the engine is moving around from torque. Since you replaced the elbow on the IM with rigid aluminum pipe, all that torque and vibration is being put on that thin wall aluminum tubing and the welds, not very strong. I personally wouldn't trust it with my family's life up in the mtns, hours away from cell signal

    • @six0bros
      @six0bros 2 роки тому +1

      There are still 2 boots on this. It's just moved to a different spot. Still allows plenty of movement. Trust me after the abuse it's been through you don't have to worry with it. Socal billet even makes a design with 1 boot just at the intercooler and that doesn't have issues at all. I agree for general use I prefer to have the 2 boots like this pipe still allows plenty of movement just at a different part is all

      @@six0bros to be clear the part i really don't like is the hot pipe that connects to the TB. When the engine is rocking and rolling, that pipe is working like a lever on the weld to TB flange, and to a lessor extent, the other weld. Lots of stress involved, could potentially be mitigated with thicker pipe and some tempering, but i'm not sure if mfgr did any of this. After personal failures, my default is to just not trust thin wall Al tubing welds that get vibrated to hell
