How long did it take for you to learn to play all of those instruments so well?
Ink Tea it's been years, one after another :) my tip is always try to enjoy when you play, practise using songs that you like and are not too difficult for you, so you can make them sound cool with your level. Then try to make the same song a bit faster, or with harder ornaments. I think it's better to do something fun and learn slower than doing very good exercices that bore you and make you quit the instrument 🤘boring exercices are good for specific scenarios, but for me it's mostly about having fun
I love all your music you're an inspiration to me! Could you do someday a tutorial of one of your songs or on how you produce! :)

I'm not sure if that was meant for Antti or for me 😆 In Sunker Sailor's Inn I just recorded the instruments, Antti composed and produced the song :) About my songs, so far I don't consider making tutorials, I'm more a musician than a speaker 😅 But I'm always happy trying to help people, so if you have specific doubts about celtic folk music production you can write to me to ianfontova@gmail.com :)

I always come back to this song, the violin note change from D to E at 0:55 sounds sooooo good!
Not that you're going to see this, but that note change is called a glissando aka, a slide. Instead of placing the fingering on the string at the note, you start your note at the base of the string and, you guessed it, slide up into the note. Folk music that has a violin in it is really big on sliding your notes. :)

Even to this day this is my favorite song from the Album. Got Hymn to the High Seas v2 on Bandcamp and it's some of my most preferred work music.
