If you are using JMeter's HTTP Test Script Recorder, you may get a pop up on recording - Recorder: Transaction Control. This is fine. This pop-up will come in the latest version of JMeter. You can just provide a transaction name, and time in ms and continue.
How to record login test in JMeter
Step 1 : add blazemeter plugin to chrome browser
Step 2 : start blazemeter plugin and login to blazemeter
Step 3 : Record your scenario - Stop Recording - Export .jmx
In case you find jmx option disabled export as json and use this link to convert to jmx

Have question about Login test. I have reproduced all the steps you have showed - everything works fine. But when I would like to perform negative test, so I edited my POST request and set incorrect Login& Password, but request is sill successful. Why is it so?
Hi, pls check in your JMeter where exactly are the credentials referred from. And it might be the case that it is not login but because you have not added any assertions so it is not showing failure. Failure is shown either the server does not respond, if there is some client side error (4xx) or server side error (5xx). So here your request is going through and server is also responding, but you need to add an assertion to check something on the home page.

Hi Praveen, so ideally after recording if you manually update the credentials in the sampler then the next action should fail, You can also get the token and pass to other requests to maintain session. You will find online examples for this

You can create 2 thread groups, one with 200 users and in the other use Stepping Thread Group. This should be close to what you are trying.

if you do not want to use any recorder, then you can create an http sampler provide the page path and in parameter provide your form elements and values. Similar to what you have seen for username / password field in this tutorial. I did my best while trying to test login performance for the web app according to your lesson. It has google form authorization. It was always failed in auth-step (400), but the next steps were successful (It wasn't redirecting as I saw user's info in response). Is google and similar services an exception? Or this should be tested in another way?

Hi Keenal, looks like some issue with your request. Pls recheck if you have provided all parameters properly. Check the http sampler manually. Also add a View Results Tree listener and see the detailed logs.

Hi, you mean browser coming up and you can see the runs. That does not happen in JMeter. It sends the request to server and gets back response and shows the results. Anyways when you do a load testing with say 1000 threads, you cannot expect to get 1000 browser open and running. Even your system with crash that way

Hi Priya, I will suggest not to do any performance testing on Live url unless you ensure it will not break and you have proper permission for that.
Some Best Practices
1. Always do performance testing on a separate env. Create a sep env which will not be used for other activities
2. Run your tests with the same infrastructure, network stats etc. To get consistent results and can be compared with the baseline
3. Always have a baseline to compare your test against.
4. JMeter checks the server performance and does not care for browser render time. So if you see your jmeter results are good but your application is still slow. Check for client-side performance testing tools
5. Focus on the areas that needs performance testing based on user scenario
6. Always document your results

as far as i know i can only incorporate a csv file if i am using an http request sampler here on jmeter, setting the variables needed containing values from csv file. but the file generated from blazemeter has no http request generated sample. would it mess up if i put an http request to make this work for multiple user login? thanks!

Hey Raghav, Thanks for these wonderful video. These are very helpful for beginners like me. I am new to Performance Testing and was trying to run the same using Blazemeter. On the day of when i recorded videos all samplers got passed but when i run the same test cases next day the first sampler is getting passed but the second one is failing by saying Unauthorized with response code 401. My hunch is i have to pass some variables but i am not sure where. Any help would be appreciated . Thanks in advance
Hi Saikat, it may be that the 2nd request needs some token that is generated in the first request, I have shown in later videos how to pass values, Correlation etc.

To combine multiple recordings into a single JMeter test plan, you can follow these steps:
1. Create separate JMeter test plans for each BlazeMeter recording. Each test plan will have its own JMX file.
2. Open a new JMeter test plan where you want to combine the recordings.
3. In the new test plan, add Thread Groups to represent different user scenarios or flows.
4. For each Thread Group, add a "Recording Controller" (Right-click on the Thread Group -> Add -> Logic Controller -> Recording Controller).

In the User Defined Variables element, add a variable with the password value you want to encrypt. For example, you can use the variable name password and set its value to the plaintext password.
Add a BeanShell PreProcessor element to the HTTP sampler where you want to use the encrypted password. Right-click on the HTTP sampler, navigate to Add -> Pre Processors -> BeanShell PreProcessor.
In the BeanShell PreProcessor, you can use the following code to encrypt the password using the __base64Encode function:
String password = "${__base64Encode(${password})}";
vars.put("encryptedPassword", password);
This code will encode the value of the password variable and store the encrypted value in a new variable called encryptedPassword.

Hi, you can use a single user and password and run it over 1000 threads. However some people suggest to use diff user ids to be get more realistic performance test results as for every unique user there is some background authentications to be done. You can use a csv file to put your values and use in JMeter. But ofcourse at first you can try with a single id and check the performance

Hi Dina, the difference in http and https in very simple term is HTTPS is more secure
HTTPS = Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure
However the process to create test should be the same. Just in protocol you can select https. (BTW if you record and add to jmeter it should be selected by default)
