Paps test is a screening test for cervical cancer. It is recommended for women in the age group 21 to 65 years.
It’s a simple test for which the gynaecologist will do a pelvic examination and take the sample in the OPD and send it to the pathologist, who shall then give the report. Abnormal does not necessarily mean cancer but it means that further evaluation may be needed. Regular screening helps us to detect lesions on the cervix before the actual cancer develops.
