Wow! Had no idea this was Episode 1 of the Road to Gojira until after I saw the video! Something tells me it's gonna be a while before we finally see Godzilla if the Road starts this early but I don't mind. This was great.
Dude this video has 300 views and is amazing yet videos that use click bait and are complete garbage get millions of views can’t believe it love your channel!!!
Fun fact the creator of the film camera louis le Prince (not Edison) disappeared on a train in 1890 and his son sued Edison for the film camera and princes son actually died during a duck hunt for no reason
There used to be a wonderful esoteric shopping mall in the Dallas area called 'Olla Podrida.' It was two stories stacked into a building shaped like a giant covered bridge. All the stores were independent local businesses. I bring this up because they had Kinetoscopes (IIRC either 5c or 10c to play) scattered around the ground floor, which is how I discovered them when I was 7 or 8 years old.
Very informative. Never heard before of "along the moonbeam trail" and watched it right after your video. I find it difficult to believe Dawley actually made the dinosaur models for "Slumber Mountain" considering how much different they look in his next solo project. They definitely are lankier than the 1918 short and way more lizard-like, with snake toungues and all. I don't feel like bashing on a dead person though and it's always nice to have more stop motion content than less.
another great video lots of work lots of research that's what makes your vid so great.. and I love Ray Harryhausen with all the sinbad movies grew up watching all this stuff what great great memories .. Thanks finz for a another great video . great job keepem coming
Willis o brien is definitely one my favorite stop motion animators along side Ray harryhausen And also if he doesn’t exist along side his creations i don’t think his predecessors won’t become popular to this very day and thank god that Ray harryhausen became the successor of Willis o brien
You're one of the few who doesn't abbreviate Tyrannosaurus Rex to T-Rex. And Dinosaurs to Dinos. I appreciate that big-time. Silly, maybe, but those lazy abbreviators give me a cramp. Our beloved magnificent animals deserve better. Sez me.
Another great video! I knew The Ghost of Slumber Mountain had been chopped down significantly from the original version, but I didn't realize there was all this drama behind the scenes! Fascinating!
Great video. Not only did I get to learn about O'Brien but about movie history in general. It really show how influencal the man was. I'm looking forward to the next video.
Can't find the original post...anyway continuing.... ......As it's in the video. So what does it tell us about what others did to O'Brien in the 1960s? It doesn't make it right but still shows that in the industry it really can happen to anyone.
Still kind of hard to imagine the world without Godzilla....
Imagine how depressing a world without dinosaurs would be.
How tho, that world exists or at least existed up until 1954
@@memelord6335 what i meant was that we have so much Godzilla now, its hard to imagine life without it
@@GodzillaMinusx I know I was talking shit is all lol
@@memelord6335 i was juts answering:)
It's nice to know that ever since cameras existed we filmed cats doing silly stuff
"His encounter with the ghost of a hermit, named Mad Dick."
Let's take a minute to imagine how he died.
Sounds like the summery of a motion picture epic.
😄
Great video. It's truly amazing what the early film pioneers managed to create.
Dang, this video series is really going to the beginning of the road.

Man i was so engrossed by the history of stop motion i completely forgot this series is just for getting to the godzilla movies. Fantastic job
Bravo! Countless thanks, Willis O'Brien and Ray Harryhausen!

Couldn’t agree more

Amazing first step on this equally amazing journey, Finz! Can’t wait for the next episode! 😁
Fantastic video man! Great research and love the documentary style of the series. I learned a lot about O'brien that I didn't know about too

This series is off to a great start. Quality video essays about early film are the shit. Dope video.

Keep up the Great Work 👍
Happy to See more of the Series.
Every time I learn something new about Edison, it adds more to the fact that he was a greedy money grubbing monster 😂
In grade school (early '50s), Edison was represented as a hero. The more I learned about him, the more I saw him as a villain.
Love your video man!!! These videos always makes my day better!!!!
Not to sound like a know-it-all, (maybe a little) but the motion picture was invented by Louis Le Prince. Edison just has the patent.
Entertaining and informative video.
Looking forward to the rest of this series.
Great job.
Great video!
This was a fascinating bit of history.
Great video. Not only did I get to learn about O'Brien but about movie history in general. It really show how influencal the man was. I'm looking forward to the next video.
Without this person the stop animation would be just an imagination... Truly Incredible Sir. Willis O'Brien
Nice work
So the kinetoscope is literally generation 1 youtube

Comment before watching
So it all had to begin somewhere.
12:40 Fatassaurus- Rex , what movie is that from??
Cave man 1981
I felt this is not an episode but a full bbc documentary on Willis o brien
A lot of these Silent movies need to be remade. Badly.
I've seen the dinosaur and the missing link before
👍👍👍👍👍!
Tesla invented the light bulb. Edison best him to the patent.
That's why he said "commercially"

It’s fascinating that a script generated by AI has got so many views. Good for you, I guess.
