The Magic of Disney Comes to Tony Baxter's Home Remodel and Backyard Renovation

Legendary Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter has been a driving force in Disney’s creative world for over four decades. Julie Laughton, CEO of Julie Laughton Design Build in Orange County, has been a leader in the home remodel, home design, and home construction business for over two decades. When Tony hired Julie for an interior and exterior home renovation, the creative ideas flowed effortlessly and they went on to design and construct a very special project.
Julie with her expertise and team of skilled craftsmen worked with Tony one on one to create timeless designs. It was a vintage and custom remodel of the interior that involved two room additions. The goal was to make the additions look like they had always been there and match the interior design. New construction was made to look vintage. A guest bedroom was added along with a home theater.
This Disneyland veteran had a specific vision for his outdoor living and entertaining space. Tony had an idea of recreating a scene from the Mary Poppins movie where there is a fountain surrounded by vintage streetlights washed in moonlight. Landscape improvements included custom lighting, fountain, gazebo renovation, and more. One of the most important aspects of this project was the choice of wattage and the color of the lighting. Julie Laughton Design Build had to make the backyard appear to be moonlit every night. It took several weeks of planning, staging, and experimenting with different lights and filters.
