Ahead of the release of one of the biggest movies of the summer, Oppenheimer, Simon Harkness from IGV Presents sat down with Cillian Murphy and Florence Pugh!
Cillian Murphy told us that Oppenheimer was the most challenging role of his career, and how Christopher Nolan helped guide him through the movie. Florence Pugh told us who her biggest mentor in her career has been and how she chooses her roles. And Cillian and Florence both cringe as they share their favourite thing about each other 😂
Plus we find out that Cillian and Florence would love to meet John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix!

He aged very well judging by his look in the interview. Just shows what a horrific transformation Cillian had to make to look more like a warn out Oppenheimer. Because he looks so different in the movie

In what alternate universe is 27 classed as young?! To be fair, maybe 27 seems young if you're 80 years old or something. But 27 is not really that far from middle aged. 27 was like the end age for many greats.. Hendrix, Morrison, Joplin.. all those people achieved their greatness in their early to mid 20s. We really need to stop classing people nearing their 30s as kids. By 27 many people are married and have large families. I think the reason the west classes people of middle age as kids is that they don't want to accept the fact that they are becoming old themselves. You don't really get that in other cultures.. in Asian and African cultures people have no problem with accepting their advanced age status and when their children become adults they understand and accept that they themselves are now seniors. They realise that their children are not actually young, but rather they themselves are just old. I know it can be difficult to accept but aging is a part of life.

Florence is exactly as I would expect her to be IRL. Cillian is just a regular shy dude who I absolutely wouldn't have expected to be this nervous. Both really excellent at their craft!

I appreciate that the interviewer (especially being a man) so candidly admitted to feeling impostor syndrome at the end of the interview- it was so genuine and vulnerable and I think it made the two actors feel even more comfortable/present with him at the end. Basically, great interview and it’s cool when we admit our feelings/insecurities- makes us feel more connected:)
He watched the film, and he liked it. You can tell he is not trying to promote anything, but doing he's best to interview a gifted cast of an interesting film.
It's also an strategy to force actors into submission.

@@aktchungrabanio6467 well it could have been if he had said it towards the beginning of the interview, but he said that at the very end, when the interview was over - so I don’t think this is what was happening here :)
You could see Cillian’s eyes warm up as the interviewer said that… he understood and was endeared by it I think

I've never seen him before but I was just so impressed by his interview style as well as his genuine engagement with those he was interviewing. I also don't know if his questions were his own or part of a team effort but they were also excellent. For Simon and the team behind this interview, you had a great opportunity with two stunning actors and I think you knocked it out of the park. Very well done!

I think it's something she has to work around carefully with building a character. It's not a typical fit with a younger character, like Amy in "Little Women," which was not the best casting she's ever had, and it does sound like what it is, a product of some vocal damage. I do think it added to the Jean Tatlock character in "Oppenheimer" a lot.

Been watching lots interview I think Cillian a reserved person and extremely shy when people compliment him.
I don’t know Cillian so I won’t say he’s shy. I will say that Cillian and Florence are comfortable together by their physical closeness in the interview. They kind of twin sit but are open to each other. Arm crossing can mean so many things; tired restless etc.. Clear he wanted her to take the lead, he looked tired. Love both actors both always give it ago and do well❤

A good lesson for the real world- find a good boss and mentor, maintain that relationship and keep in touch over the years. This will take you places. A lesson I wish someone would have told me when I was younger.
