    Can’t wait to get my hands on this new one! Brought the 15” after your original review Trevor and I will get @espressodisplays new one so I can use both the 15 & 17 in the home office and when working remotely. Just wondering if we would need an additional HDMI cable running both. 🤔

      Hi there, we're stoked to have you with us. Please drop us a line if you have any specific questions about your setup. Running multiple displays from a single device is awesome, but it can also come down to what your laptop or computer can run. In some cases, if you have a few screens connected, additional power comes in handy too. 😎

    The back of the monitor got more screen time than the front. And when the front is visible it’s off angle.

    This looks SO promising! But wait… you say it needs power to reach full brightness… but it gets power from the MacBook… How do we get full brightness then? Do we NEED to buy that expensive battery-base?
    And what about the scaling? Does it scale 2x retina resolution like the built in display?

    • @justinh5638
      @justinh5638 10 місяців тому +2

      I believe that as long as you give it a secondary power source outside of the computer it will work, espresso’s power bank just looks like an all round great addition.

    Is it possible for this device to stay horizontal?

    • @espressodisplays
      @espressodisplays 9 місяців тому

      Absolutely - with auto-rotate, you can choose and/or lock to landscape or portrait settings. With the adjustable stand, it's all super flexible. 😎

    How is the text size with the 17.3” scaled to the recommended “looks like 1080p” by MAC OS? I know it will be sharp but is it too small? I tried 1080p on a 15.6 inch ASUS Display and found it too small without scaling. If I purchase the Esspreso 17, i don’t want to lose real estate by scaling. I appreciate your feedback as we are unable to test this display without buying it. Thanks!

      Apple 5k (5120 x 2880) iMac does 200% scaling, so you only get 2560x1440 real estate! In addition, my friend had 17" 1080p MSI laptop; and texts on it looks pretty sharp and not hard to see like on my 15" 1080p ASUS laptop. However, I heard that Apple only scales well with QHD and 5K monitors.

    Pity the display doesn’t have Qi2 wireless charging receiver, and low-latency wireless display (ex: EZcast) integrated. The magnetic foldable docking station is awesome but should also integrate a USB-C port at the back to power a Qi2 wireless charger at the top. To be able to power the display with Qi2 wireless charging would open so many new opportunities (use of a power bank, use on a slim Apple charger,…)

      Power management is something we pay very close attention to. Right now, a single USB-C to carry data, power, and video is the best solution to ensure a consistently smooth and stable experience between the display and a host device (laptop, smartphone or gaming device). The display itself does not carry a battery or wireless capability as it’s designed to be a super simple ‘plug and play’ with a host device. Having said this, we’re always exploring and innovating to deliver great experiences for our customers. 😎

      @@espressodisplays What is the portable display maximum power draw ? My question is to try to figure out if technically a 5W to 15W Qi2 wireless power adapter would be enough to power this kind of display… It would be so much more innovative…

    Do you get full brightness when the laptop is plugged in, or do you only get full brightness when you have the extra battery base?

    • @EFTM
      @EFTM  10 місяців тому +1

      You get the full brightness with ANY external power attached. EG, i have a dual USB-C power brick, one powered the laptop (should it need it) and one into the espresso - but of course, its not NEEDED for either

    Can the Espresso show an on screen keyboard?

    • @espressodisplays
      @espressodisplays 7 місяців тому

      This would depend on the software that you're running - i.e. a keyboard is not a native software that we run. We see so many great integrations with our display. 😁

      According to Google, "coffee cherries are classified as fruits" 😄 However, we're running our own race by creating well-made companion devices that perform for the long haul. We love Apple, Windows and any other product or ecosystem we can make our products compatible with.

    Hello, do i need expensive drives for touch funcionality on macos like on 15 inch V1?

    • @espressodisplays
      @espressodisplays 9 місяців тому

      Hello. The software that enables touch for macOS is 100% free. It's called espressoFlow and is downloadable even for those who don't have an espresso Display. 😁
